I have been following Mick Taylor and his career since I had the first chance of seeing him with the Stones live in 1973. I have seen Mick Taylor solo many many times over the years. I am one of the few people on this planet who have seen Mick Taylor performing two different cities and shows on the very same day, and if you went to those two shows and you didn't even live in that country then you know you are a true fan.

i'm sorta gun shy now...got performance anxiety...

saw him twice in a really small club in Germany with around 70 people in the audience. Once solo which was ok but far from fascinating and once as special guest for Tod Sharpville. Tod was really really great, but all his efforts towards Mick Taylor ("come on Mick, play a solo") were without any success. Mick was just bored, stood around and played sometimes a few notes, Really a lame-ass. Far better perfomance by his successor at the Stones (even in Stockholm Stadium 03) (-;

Never had the pleasure of seeing Mick - have had the pleasure of listening to him for years.

Saw him in Toronto's Ontario Place opening for John Mayall in 1987. It was one of those parks where admission got you a free ticket to whatever band was playing that night. He was fronting a new band called Hot Water. About 2500 people in the audience. Mick didn't say a word the whole show. Kind of surreal seeing him and he played played a decent set (closing with CYHMK without vocals) but like Stoneswolf's review, Taylor seemed bored. He came back and played a few with Mayall who really cooked.

This thread is for those who think I am a bad guy taking away their chance to talk about Mick Taylor. Haha...

By the way, I saw the Stones performing "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" in London a few years ago. Then I saw Mick Taylor performing the same song in the same city, almost next door next day. Met many great friends at both shows. That was the moment I realized the fact that:

1. I love "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" a lot more with The Stones
2. Mick Taylor is now happy with what he is doing: Blues

MT is a special talent.

To me, his only peer is Clapton. MT should have had a post-Stones career similar to Claptons solo career. He still has time. MT is NOT an old man.

IORR is a free website with NO advertising to speak of. I have posted for years on a very heavily traveled stock message board, who's main advertiser is Scottrade. HUGE corp sponsor. This website Im speaking of has changed corporate ownership over the years, and now has a new one called e signal. Wanna talk free speech? On this stock website, you as a member have the ability to TOS a post or poster that is vulgar, personal, yada yada. Those posts that are reported go to management, who supposedly review them. I have seen posts TOS'd that say "I agree". I have seen posters suspended for 7 days, and others have their accounts permanently deleted.
So, the point of this long winded post is this. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
Out of the goodness of his heart, BV has probably THE best ongoing Stones site available. And compared to other websites I have been on, I find him very liberal in his rules and regs. Im probably a prime example. I for one say thanks BV for putting up with such diverse personalites

However, I cant make the connectioon between all the talk of him being a "legend" and the "greatest" with the post stones youtube clips and sound files that get put online.

I agee with you HM, and imo the Glimmer's let him shine,he should be thankful for that.

How many version's have you heard of ABB,sway?but i would love to hear that Carla olsen version,i heard mixed opinion''s on that one would love to make my obcesment. One would hope the original player of a solo would sound better.

well he did , trust me, ronnie held his own though, he was very good on sway on most nites that i have heard it

I personally enjoy the Glasgow solos by Wood more than the original ones. Grittier. That been said, Wood borrows widely from the original, and I don't think he would have come up with some of these ideas by himself (they are not in his style), so props to Taylor for his great inventions. But I love Woody's tone and his way of playing over the bar, and toying with the meter.

Why don't you invite Mick Taylor to participate in a litte Q&A or chat session with the forum members here?

He can either say yes or no. With your web sites longevity and credibility, I think it would be a real treat for the hardcore fans of Mick Taylor.

He may be flattered by the offer and reciprocate positively.

To be quite honest - and without taking anything away from any of these people - I could care less about Mick Taylor, Ron Wood, Brian Jones, Bill Wyman, or Darryl Jones. I love the Stones because of Mick and Keith - and I hardly give a damn about who they choose play with or credit for songs.

Mick and Keith are great guys, but they need a drummer, and a lead guitarist, and a keyboard player, and so on.

Actually there are probably lots of players that could fit in with them (musically that is)

yes way back when wyman quit i was hoping taylor would join up again on bass, it really was a strong rumor for a while
