Which is exactly why he is playing with Sammy intstead.

looks like the recipe for a disaster. roth's voice is shot to hell and edddie looks like the ghost of his former self and downright scary. i imagine a loud mess and i will be staying away, however,it will sell tickets.

That Anthony interview was amazing. I knew Eddie Van Halen was a dick, but my goodness. Even if the article is only half-accurate, how sad.

no.the 2004 tour was a trainwreck..go check out sammy hagar's site and there's an interview where he goes into a lot of detail about how bad it was....

I think Dave will pull it off. If this works out he will have the biggest payday of his touring career. If the summer is successful and everything runs smooth they could keep a tour going for a long long time. Even without a new release they would be a stong draw for years to come.

He may have it in his head now not to blow this opportunity.

I SAY I will not go, but we will see if they actually do it, whether I maintain that position......

Roth's comments were great---it will be like a Nascar race--"Do you go for the race or to see the crash" Perfect metaphor.

BTW--HAPPY BIRTHDAY EVH--today he is 52 and actually for a guy who has abused his body the way he has, he really does not look that bad.

If Van Halen was playing in my front yard, the only reason I would come out of my house would be to tell them to get the hell out of my yard...Van Halen...They are the WORST...

You are entitled to your opinion.......

That said, it is pretty difficult to summarily dismiss Eddie Van Halen's contributions to rock guitar. The man was an innovator and a guitar genius. Plain and simple.

If MA was involved, I'd be there in a heartbeat, but without him, even with Dave... nah.

One good thing will come out of this, though - all the great quotes once the whole thing crashes and burns.

Plus, hopefully this will get Dave's autobiography back in print - one of my all-time favorite reads, period.

Juan, that is kind of how I am leaning......

Oh, you can smell the venom from here. I wonder if they will bother trying to record some new music first, that would be nice and not make the whole thing so transparent.

Crazy From the Heat (or is it Sun--lol)----great book!

Not much innovation, hmmm....if you ever get the chance, check out these tunes and decide about "innovation"

Eruption
Spanish Fly
Women in Love
Mean Street
Cathedral
Little Guitars
Summer Nights

The list goes on, but if you have not heard those songs, you might want to check them out, if you are aware of them and do not hear any "innovation", that's cool, knock yourself out with Alvin Lee.....

Ain´t there a smokin´version of Jumpin´Jack Flash on that record?

Say what you will, those first two albums sure sounded good while partying in the summers of 78 and 79.

Summer 1978 in particular - Some Girls, 1st VH, Running on Empty, Another Mother Further (Mother's Finest), and many others helped me survive the onslaught of disco.

Those first two Van Halen albums are classics. The rest of them all have good moments as well. Too bad Eddie has lost his mind, tho.

There is no doubt that in their prime VH was a kick ass band. Growing up I was a huge fan. I saw several great shows with DLR. Then was he left and Sammy joined I was dissapointed. Because, even though I was(and still am) a huge Hagar fan. I just could not get into the Van Hagar lineup. I thought Sammy was much beter solo and I never did catch VH with him fronting.
But now,Eddie is a shell of his former self and is showing his desperation by reuniting with Roth. They are in it for money and this tour will crash and burn.

I agree, the chances of this sucking hard are about 80%. I hope I'm proven wrong.

Could he ever sing?
BUt as a showman he was serious competition for Mick.

I saw many VH tours and the last tour really really sucked. I felt like walking out on the show but my friends held me back....hated it.

I agree... with the history behind behind DLR/Eddie...they're in it for the $$$

I'll pass.

Just had Romeo Delight come up on shuffle---had not heard it in a long time--that song smokes---if they could sound like that...........

But, of course, they won't, w/o Michael Anthony's killer harmonies.

This is the same feeling I had when Plant and Page decided to tour w/o JPJ.
Actually worse, because it could never have been the orginal four.

Never heard that one GS. What album is that off of?

Romeo Delight is on Women and Children first.
I really hope VH makes it happen. I never seen VH with Roth although i've seen Van Hager and Roth. I even saw that terrible Charrone (or whatever)

Sweetcharmed--it is off Women and Children First. WCF is an interesting record in that the first 2 VH records were comprised of tunes that were written by the band before they were signed and that one has a little bit more of an edge.

They used it as their live opener in '80 and '82.

Great tune, check it out if you get a chance.

Hard core, classic VH.

Well no, he couldn't, you're right. But he can't even do now what he could do then.

But really, anyone who thinks Roth will somehow pull this off is hoping for the impossible. Whether or not he puts aside his differences with the Van Halens, once he gets on a stage it will be embarrassing. Grab some guy from a VH tribute band instead. A bad parody would be better. Somebody's dead great uncle has more energy and flair these days. James Brown right now would be a better choice.
