The best could be
Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen

It's right up there with:

Won't Get Fooled Again
Layla
Stairway to Heaven
Bohemian Rhapsody

Etc.

By "Etc." you mean "Hot Dog," right?

There is no best, there is no worst..... It's all a matter of personal taste...

Rock opera bullshit.

I'd go with anything by the Raspberries or K.C. and the Sunshine Band.

What about Lust for Life, Blitzkrieg Bop, or Dream On?

Just love the way lynn1 supports her views... The thread title is always longer than the post itself.
I don't agree anyway.

I have One More From The Road Deluxe Edition. For some reason I never think Free Bird is as good live as the studio take.

(this is all subject to my opinion, of course)

There's at least 3 better Who songs on Who's Next alone.
Anf there's better Who songs on other albums. Heck, Baba's the weakest of the 3 CSI theme songs! but as far a best song outside of the Stones - I really don't think it'd be by The Who. Discounting the Beatles and Led Zeppelin is completely myopic.

I know, I know, The Beatles' songwriting is unparalled by anyone - I don't include them in any comparing - because you can't. It IS more fair game to compare Zeppelin to the Who, though.

In my opinion, Baba is destroyed by at least 50% of Zep's catalouge.

Nope, and I hate FREE BIRD too! I happen to like Baba O'Riley but just think there are many songs far greater, like most of Led Zeppelin one, or most of Electric Ladyland and of course ALL of Exile and Sticky Fingers!

It saddens me when fellow Stones fans bash on Led Zeppelin. Zep is indeed one of the greatest rock bands ever, there is no disputing that.

I never said they werent good, I just think they are overated. Ill take Micks coked up vocals in 75 over Robert Plant in his prime, Ringo's drumming over John Bonhams half hour long ego trips, and practically any guitarist over Pages equally annoying ego trips. That just leaves JPJ, who is the most talented member of the group, and also overlooked. Further, I realize rock bands tend to "pinch" lyrics and music from older sources, but outright stealing is a different story (im thinking of Whole lotta love, Bring it on home, the lemon song, Babe Im gonna leave you, to name a few). This is why i say Led Zeppelin is overated and given too much credit. They didnt invent or even perfect the "hard rock" line up of bass guitar, lead, drums and frontman (that distinction goes to the WHo, who acknowledge they patterned themselves after Johnny Kidd and the Pirates). Other acts prior to Zep made that lineup the hard rock thing, cream , hendrix experience, jeff beck group. So again, I maintain and will argue till Im blue in the face, Led Zeppelin is the most overated rock band. Neither there lyrics, nor their music, nor their style was original.

A great song, but the greatest rock tune outside of a Stones number, has to be the faces "stay with me".

They played "The Seeker" recently when I saw them and that song ROCKED live!
It set the pace for a great show.
The Who are currently playing small venues which we could only hope the Stones play.
Catch these guys if you can they are sounding better than ever!

Led Zeppelin - possibly the greatest band ever. Exclamation mark!

One may have little empathy for the blues, and certainly very little musical knowledge, understanding, and certainly skill to come to this conclusion.

You want an example of a real over-rated band - The Doors.
