Even More OT: Dread Zeppelin

They are basically a one-trick pony, but I love them. To understand the shtick, all you gotta hear is "Heartbreaker Hotel". That pretty much explains it.

Their official site is [www.dreadzeppelin.com]

Hell, they even got a positive review from Robert Plant, which demonstrates Plant's sense of humor towards the Zeppelin legacy.

Of all the bands who play reggaefied mashups of Led Zeppelin and Elvis songs, they are by far my favorite.

Plant has stated that some of their arrangements of Zep songs are better than the originals (How Many More Times in particular). I saw them once in a club in Edinburgh and they were fantastic; that singer has an awesome voice and the rest of the band are not bad musicians. Great entertainment!!!!!!!!
That was in 1990, dunno what they are like now........

I saw them around that time as well, they were very entertaining. I still think it's funny that their bass player called himself Jah Paul Jones.

I had a CD by them way back when. Damn good musicians. Very interesting concept.

For those not familiar, Zep songs done reggae style by an Elvis impersonator - sorta kinda.

Speaking of wacky Led Zeppelin covers, has anyone ever heard Stairway to Gilligans Island,by Little Roger & the Goosebumps?

I remember Dread Zep....I love a band with a sense of humor. They did a song that blended Zep's "Black Dog," with Elvis's "Hound Dog." That was really clever and catchy.

He think's they're a riot.

Dread Zeppelin are awesome. What made them so good, was that technically they were amazing musicians.

Their first two albums are classics.

Actually, the name of one of the guys in the band was Jah Paul Jo. There's also Ed Zeppelin!

Not only did thet do Black Dog and Hound Dog together, but they also mixed Heartbreaker and Heartbreak Hotel! And during Moby Dick, the Elvis impersonator was reading a copy of Moby Dick!

Some of their songs kicked total ass. Like You're Time is Gonna Come, Misty Mountain Hop and even Stairway!

Do yourself a favor...
Take the last hit of acid you've been saving - and go see these guys - it's a really big shoe - really big shoe.
