I listened to it today at work and a colleague of mine who listens only to traditional Italian pop music turned up to me and asked "who's this guy with this awesome voice?".

youre kiddin me, right? Dont get me wrong, Keith's version on that show is beautiful but if you cant 'feel the pain' listening to Gram and Emmylou's version, theres somethin' seriously wrong.
the way Keith looks at Norah and then gives the audience that sly "yeah, I'd give her one, too" look is hilarious

Keith can take a "sentimental" song you thought you didn't like, strip it of all its accumulated layers of showbiz schmaltz and treacle, and sing you the real thing, from the heart.
"Love Hurts" is a great song, and it's been luckier than most in the people who've sung it over the years, but this is a beautiful version.

True, but Nazareth did make an important change to the song that even Keith follows. Prior to the Nazareth version, everyone from The Everly Brothers on sang the line "love is like a STOVE, it burns you when its hot". Nazareth changed it to "love is like a FLAME...", which sounds a lot more poetic and goes with the song a lot better.
