This was a poll held on Radio 2 yesterday afternoon. It was hugely predicatble that Queen would win. Their fans are quite devoted in these sort of things. Largely because they are tedious people with no real life.
These polls are boring and they do not make sense! Queen were not bad, but they were certainly not the best band. I remember a poll in which Radiohead's "OK Computer" was voted for the best Album ever. The Stones did not make it into the top ten.

The boys sell out stadium shows here so I'd say they have a pretty big fan base. They'd have more fans if they charged less money too. A Bigger Bang reached No 2 in the albums charts as well. No other acts from the 60's can acheive that, except maybe Dylan.
Who cares,it's just the stupid poll.Big Star and Flying Burrito brotheres are among the greatest bands ever but you won't see them in such popular polls

basically the UK equivalent of N'Synch. The bands were picked by the organisers to represent different 'generations' - they werent the top 5 bands chosen by the public
ask anybody if they like stones ,and most likely their response will be , they"re ok ilike their old stuff. and they will have other favorite bands. thats what i meant.
Try and remember, before you go blasting any groups fans as compulsive saddos, that you are posting on an internet fan forum. We all give up rights to make fun of other uberfans the minute we hit "post message."
That said, Queen made some excellent records, along with having the most consistently brilliant live show of the late 70s-mid 80s. From 79-86, they were unequalled on stage.
And heretical as this may sound, I'll take A Night at the Opera/A Day at the Races/News of the World/Jazz over the Stones' golden four.

Nope..most likely the response will be a flat-out "No".
No matter how popular ANY act is, the fact is that most people cant stand them and that those who do are in a small minority.

I hope you will have a good time listening to those records rather than to the Stones' top four. My experience listening to these bands has been different, though: I used to be a huge Queen fan, and I stopped listening to Queen when I started listening to the Stones. Simple as that. Same with live performances: I stopped watching Queen's vhs when I discovered what the real thing is all about, i.e. when I first watched a Rolling Stones' vhs. Not to take anything away from Queen, but any performance of theirs just seems so lame if compared with anyone of the Stones'...

Indeed it was. I always thought they were overblown bollocks (apart from Another One Bites The Dust, but then they nicked the bass riff off Chic's Good Times - as did Sugarhill Gang for Rapper's Delight, but they put it to great use). Freddie Mercury was Mariah Carey with a tache.
Queen had way more UK hits in 20 years than the Stones in 44 and counting, so is not surprising. Only from their last two studio albums they had 2 #1 singles and 9 top 20 hits.
Queen is the best british band ever (from studio recordings), also Freddie Mercruy was the greatest male singer on earth. His voice sounded like an orchestra. I'm so glad that I've seen them in 1986 on the Kind of Magic Tour.
The Rolling Stones are the greatest live band on earth, there is no doubt!
freddie mercury's death was a big blow to music lovers worldwide...
his performance, recorded when his health was rapidly deteriorating, of "the show must go on" sends goosebumps down my body every time..heck just thinking about it ...
queen was such a diverse band..they could do it all..from all out balls to the wall rockers such as stone cold crazy to songs about elves or what have you....
