GAZZA, I couldn't have said it better!

Jagger's solo work is a bit too lackluster in my opinion. No soul!
Tho, WANDERING SPIRIT stands out, good songs and tight production by Rick Rubin.
A MUST HAVE, the other ones, well.....

This thread is a waste. It gets me sick because I know in my heart we lost a great Stones album somewhere in the mid eighties.

Keith's 2 albums have been very good.....BUT Jagger's songs are better...that is what the thread is all about.

'Lonely at the top' was originally a Stones song anyway...

They are both big egoist today but Mick is more ambitious and ( unfortunatelly which is heard on ABmore hardworking than lazy Keith The Primadonna.In my opinion Wandering Spirit and Goddes are great albums really.I have great memories with theese records.I hope Keith could write once more classy Stones album like Talk is Cheap which is better than Micks albums so two v.g Micks vs. 1 excellent Keiths , yeah baby !

Those songs are all shit. Sure, Jagger has had some excellent songs from his solo stuff and Wandering Spirit was good, but most of his stuff sucks. Only a few worthwhile songs per album. Besides, I'll never forgive Jagger for ruining Lonely At The Top like that. And how could you list so little for Keith? You could take 10 classic songs from Talk Is Cheap alone!

Hi Micawber, I agree tho I also agree with Benon that Keith seems lazy these days. I think 80% of ABB was written by Mick. And its telling that the one great slide blues number on ABB is by Mick. There was a time when Keith did it all (Let it Bleed).
As for the solo stuff, I love "Locked Away" - which noone seems to mention here

Simply a case of Mick's Peter Pan complex taking over. He went back to the band in the late 80's with his tail between his legs as his great plan for a solo career didnt quite hit the heights he'd hoped for.

Its a fine record, for sure. Theres no doubt that some of his solo work is bloody good - and theres no doubt that in the last decade he's been FAR more inspired creatively than Keith has been. Doesnt alter the facts behind his motives in launching it, though.

Fortunately these days we've got beyond the stage where one of them doing solo work is seen as a sign that the band doesnt have a future. As have they.
