keith's two solo albums are more consistent and solid than Jagger's solo work.

However, at least Mick has been productive in the last decade or so.

Jagger 'led the way' because the greedy B**tard cut himself a sneaky solo deal on the side when negotiating the Stones' contract with Walter Yetnikoff and CBS in the early 80's - and because he thought the Stones were on their last legs as a band. Had his solo career been the success that he delusionally thought it would be, you would not have had a Stones album and tour in 1989 and you would certainly not have had a Rolling Stones to enjoy by 1996, let alone 2006. Keith never wanted to make a solo record. When he signed his contract with Virgin in the late 80's it was by how own admission his only option at the time as it was his own acknowledgement that he couldnt keep 'his band' together.

Mick's solo career happened by design. Keith's happened despite his own intentions that it would never be necessary.

Talk Is Cheap is an awesome record, way better than Main Offender.
Those tracks have soul and IMO they set the standard to what was to follow in the Stones production afterwards.

Terrifying, Almost Hear You Sigh, Sleeping Away could have all been on TIC.

Keith has turned into a big ego-maniac. Don't tell me he only wanted to go solo because of Mick!
He's nearly as bad as Jagger...probably worse!
Jagger's solo stuff is much better to listen to than Keith's because it's "Jagger"...nearly the Stones....Keith's solo stuff is good to listen/play guitar to but that's it.....

I could care less who on this board prefers which solo album, but Gazza's remarks about how the Glimmers' respective solo careers were launched was purely factual. He repeated information both Jagger and Richards shared with the media many times. This is essentially the same story told by Walter Yetnikoff in his autiobiography, Howling At the Moon. Yetnikoff was president of CBS Records and brokered both the Stones deal and Mick's solo deal. Yetnikoff's Rolling Stone magazine interview in 1989 also said nothing to contradict these statements.

True. Ronnie's 4 first albums are "fulfilled", I'd say. That's the Stones-solo-albums I listen to the most. Keith and JAgger work best together....they're pretty close, quality-wise, with their solo-efforts, if one overlook She's the Boss and Primitive Cool.

A labrador to show me the way? OK, I might not be hawkeye, but my ears are brilliant. And I trust my good ears when it comes to music. That's why I prefere Richards' solo work to Jagger's.

Put 5 keith solo songs vs Jagger's 5...I reckon Keith has a few up in the top 2-3 but that's it....

Main Offender is the best solo stones effort oif all time. Blended with MJs Wandering Spirit it would have made a hell of a Stones album.

Wandering Spirit is the best solo stones effort of
all time. Blended with KRs Talk is Cheap it
would have made a hell of a Stones album.
