No offense intended here, but in his Dec24 posting bv says he "hopes" the Stones will tour next summer. Isnt this a bit different from previous statements made about a definite tour? Also I recall others here stating that "if bv writes it, it will happen", or something to that effect. Just has me wonderin....

The only thing I'm wondering about is why the news on Ahmet Ertegun's death wasn't regarded as news.

30 shows! If it's around Europe then there's a good chance to see a couple of concerts right there. Jeez. I'm looking forward to it already. grinning smiley

I'm always amazed when people make statements like this...what is your source Seinfeld?

Hi, no gisregard meant, but how do you know this. If BV says Hope they will tour, nothing is certain. Not that BV knows everything, but i think it is still a rumor. I Hope they will tour, because they are a great band, but know im not sure anymore bye jeroen

It is when you have a voice inside your head telling you it's true......

My personal feeling is that it won't happen because Christmas is surely the best time of the year to sell most things and, unless they drop their prices, they might have trouble selling out venues having already toured Europe this year.

people read into things too much sometimes

I was wondering the same thing JumpingKentFlash...it was also a bit disappointing to see a relatively small number of posts about him. He was such an influential and cool man that it's a shame more don't know about him...

Sure they will come back to Europe in late spring. There a too many rumours if you include the negotiations with locals in Karlsruhe, Germany or Bristol. They wouldn't fool the promotors throughout Europe if a tour is not really intended. You have to book hotels for 200 or so people months in advance etc.

It's just unfinished business, it's just much more money to make. IMO 2/3 of the tour will happen in new cities or in regions they've never or seldom been.

It is no problem to sell out the 25.000 Erfurt stadium which is even rumoured with an exact date (!, June 8) in a few weeks's time. The same or a comparable situation would be in Liverpool, Bordeaux, Budapest or Trondheim to name but a few "forgotten" markets. You don't need half a year to fill venues like this. Just look at the two shows in the "small" town of Regina, Canada, that sold out within weeks.

The X-Mas factor is only important to fill the stadiums in cities or regions where they always play (London, Munich, Berlin etc.) I believe.

More important is maybe that many people who would also go to the Stones bought their Dylan or Genesis tickets within the last few weeks. These "casual fans" - 90 % of the audience at a normal Stones show! - just need a little break before they buy tickets for another act. That's why Cohl decided to announce the tour later than usual, I think.

I think it will be announced in late January, early February.

Rumors are just rumors...cannot take much stock in them and certainly can't view them as official, as some here seem to do...
