Rockman - We Got Your Book!!
Posted by: CindyC ()
Date: December 13, 2006 23:30

On the Stones A-Z thread, I found out Rockman does not have the Michael Cooper book Blinds & Shutters. It's a VERY expensive book, here's a link about it. (and no I don't own this either, never even had my grubby hands on it)

Anyway, Rockman is much loved on this site and is always quick to answer everyone's questions, find an old interview, or post super rare photos. Wouldn't it be cool if we could thank him by pitching in a buck or two to help him buy this book? Maybe $1 - $5 each? That would make a huge dent in it.

I haven't thought this through, but maybe we could paypal him, or you could paypal me and I would handle it, I don't know. Just a thought, It's Christmas fercrissakes - ya cheap bastids! FORK IT OVER!

Let me know if you're interested.

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

Here's a ~$400 contribution for you... it's on e-bay for $449 + $25 shipping, which is a lot less than the £420 showing on the website.

you had to remind me

Moose C. McGinnis

1991-2006

Someone once said, "If you want a friend, then go get a dog." Fifteen years ago we did and it changed our lives forever. He was the son of Leo the Lion Hearted and Black’s Dusty Dawn, born on December 14, 1991 in Amarillo, TX, home of the Big Texan Steakhouse. The dog was anything but big and when he arrived in Baltimore via plane a few weeks later, as he matched up size wise with a single basketball sneaker. Of course, we named him Moose C, an acronym for locales we had once called home and for the irony of our new and tiny family member.

He moved into our apartment with us when we lived in Columbia, MD and endured another eleven moves over the next few years, traveling 22 states during his lifetime. Moose always feared the moment a suitcase or travel bag became present, not knowing where we were going, where he was going, or if we were all going together. He learned at a young age that his parents traveled with shoes and therefore would start herding them in singles or pairs when he sensed an unscheduled departure.

Moose was not a real dog, but a dog that thought he was a person. Dearly loved by us, he was not necessarily everyone’s favorite at any given time. Moose could be very loving, but could also be very anxious, grumpy, and his heaven would probably not include children under ten years old. He had that aura about himself and somehow you always knew he was in the room. Recently, Moose reminded me of Sinatra in his later years, the man holding the dark beverage and failing voice, still commanding attention on stage. Over the last few months, Moose might have had blurry eyes and a failing bladder, but he was still the center of attention when he was around. Sinatra was Chairman of the Board; Moose was always the King.

Moose was never a quiet dog and he found the ability to bark at many different things over his life: the doorbell, people, dogs, vacuum cleaners, the wind, shadows, nearby bison in Yellowstone, any toy that moved, musical instruments, and his sister Minnie, who would get the bark and growl combination when it was dinner time. Moose would use his bark to protect us like Barney Fife protected Mayberry. It’s always the thought that counts.

But most of all, Moose was our friend, yes, even our child, who could and did provide an enormous of love and happiness that so many people and animals so much bigger will never match in their lifetimes. He was always ready with a "kiss" and seemed to know when we needed his magic to provide us happiness. For fifteen years, no matter the day, the hour, or the situation, our little furry friend greeted us at home with wagging tail and a smile. It is a feeling that we will never forget and never receive again. This is the love we will always remember. This is the friend we were lucky to have.

Someone once said, "If you want a friend, then go get a dog." It is the best advice one could have given to us and it provided us with a lifetime of joy.

I'm in! Very good suggestion, Cindy, book will only cover for 5% of what Rockman has been posting here...it's the least thing this board could pay back with.
