I haven't got it yet, but Dieter told me on the tour it might be last one anyway which would be sad sad sad.

Dieter??? Bored and Sick??? I dont think so...its purely financial. Very few subscribers left. Its sad, another great institution gone by the wayside. Its gonna be a killer issue, though....I have another article in it.

Yes, that's what he told me, too. It's basically a financial thing.

This financial aspect is of course important because nobody wants to lose money, but what certainly also lead to this decision is the fact that "very few subscribers left" - you ask yourself why you should invest your time and enthusiasm when lesser and lesser people are interested in what you're doing.

You're certainly right, retired_dog!

Damn, that's bad news!
What's the alternative? There isn't IMO.
Where do we get our information about all released stuff (official and bootlegs, cause that's what Basement News delivered) now?
Any suggestions?

Maybe we can mobilize the IORR posters here to get a subscription to Basement News, so Dieter can continue his great work (isn't expensive for what you get).

All I can say to Dieter and his collaborators:
Thank you for all the terrific work you did over the last (almost twenty?) years!

Dieter wanted to wait with the last issue until tour ends so he can finish ABB tour.

It's a lot of work to put out such kind of magazine and tough to send it out. Furthermore even the Stones tried to kill him with his magazine. They send their lawyer to forbid him to use the name of the Rolling Stones. So since some isssues ago you should have noticed that it is no longer called "Rolling Stones - Basement News" but only "Basement News". This will be another point for Dieter.

They sent him their lawyer? Strange, because as far as I remember, he used to send Basement News copies to the Stones office since many many years. So if only recently their lawyer stepped in one wonders what changed their minds to take such a step. Usually, if lawyers are involved, it costs you a lot of money. Did Dieter hvae to pay their lawyer? Embarrrrrrrrassing!

Sad sad sad. Bad news indeed. Dieter is doing a absolutely brilliant work for a lot of years now: with BN and the books he has written. Serious information, a lot of facts and a lot of details (remember the matrix numbers...) - that means spending a lot of time with hard work for BN & the books. So maybe now it's enough... thanx a lot!!!
To everyone who doesn't know what people in this thread are writing about: try to get Basement News and the books ("Schwarzbuch", "Weißbuch" - German titles but written in English). It's a must for record and cd collectors and other fans.

THanks Dieter, from me too!
It's one of the main reason I started looking underneath the official releases, and also better..inside the official releases.

Oh yes. I remember the details about "Flashpoint" (which song which show, which song complete, shortended or with additional studio recordings). Very interesting...

Strange thing about Dieter Hoffmann...he was (almost) never wrong about sources and details. 98% of the info was correct.

Well, the internet did changed everything for Hoffman I think. Still very nice read, esp. the in-dept info on lp's, ep's, ect. The bootleg section was the reason why I subscribed but now that's out of time before it reaches my eyes. Hope Dieter will keep up the good work on his other baby's like das Weissbuch / Schwarzbuch!

Very sad!... Thanks for the info.
I still love the fanzine for the in-dept info. I always find information that I can't find through internet.
I hope he's still writing the books.
