It's better than the rumors suggest IMO. Also, it's not their worst (That's Dirty Work). But it still sucks ass.

Hey, same happened to me
as I was given the cd by my psychedelic uncle.

And as Frash is pointin out the riff of Citadel...
Onbe of their strongest, one of Keith's absolutely strongest
and rock'n'rolliest riff ever! Only Satisfaction, JJF &
a couple more is up there.

I like the songs with the number 2000 in the title but the rest is pretty weak, The album lacks guts as Buttons does a bit but Buttons had much better songs. But I am glad they made it, I think it was a wake-up call to hire an outside producer and with picking Jimmy Miller, well the golden age was about to start

Yeah, Ket, the painful tranistion from Oldhamland to Millerland.
From pop to rock over acid music...
I reckon something similar is a-happening around Durty Wurks,
plus all the tension and fuzz back then.

It's a great album. The only song I don't like on it is the jam, but otherwise it has much to recommend it - Sing This All Together, Citadel, In Another Land, 2000 ight Years From Home and the sublime She's A Rainbow. Love it!

"She's a Rainbow" was the theme song for a childrens programme in Denmark in the 70's - so it's wellknown and loved in Denmark (ahh...if only Jagger had known in Horsens I'm sure they would have played it) ;-)

Wasn't the song the internet-choice in Denmark, actually? ;-) (Which would go a long way to support my point)

My Dad has the 3D-album and since he always has said that it is an underrated album, I was curious (ten years or so ago now). Found that I liked it a lot! Some exceptions of course (Sing this all together, On with the show...), but even the first part of Gomper is fine by me! 2000 LYFH is a classic in my ears, too bad I have not heard it live (yet?). My Dad's fave is 2000 Man, which is such a great song. She's a rainbow is lovely (you guys should know this; I have always wondered if it is Brian or Nicky on that piano?), Citadel is cool, The lantern ok and I actually like In another land too. Since Buttons is mentioned by some, I love that album! All the 60's albums in fact. And call me crazy (I don't mind, LOL), but I like Dirty Work too.

Literally 965 kilometers from being "Born in an Arctic zone".

I think Roy Carr in his book said it would have made a terrific EP with She's A Rainbow, Citadel, 2000 Man and 2000 Light Years From Home... bout sums it up for me.

Indeed it was. It didn't come across very well though. Two dead points at that concert: The first was She's A Rainbow and the second was Sympathy For The Devil.

Agree, although I'd throw-out Citadel and replace with We Love You & Dandelion.

It is, without any doubt, Nicky Hopkins!

It would have been a great album had they replaced "Sing 1&2"; Gomper; and On w/the Show with We Love You; Dandelion; Child of the moon and I Can See it (aka Get Yourself Together).

I think Child Of the Moon would have fit better on Beggars Banquet than on TSMR. It wasn't even near being finished when TSMR was about to be released.

Despite what some people in this thread are saying, TSMR is a strong album, although not as good as Buttons. Although this could have used some record-company meddling, replacing (See What Happens) and On With the Show with the We Love You/Dandelion single, two excellent songs. Other than those songs, there are no weak tracks on the album. Too bad the Stones decided to make this the first album which had the same tracklisting in US and UK.
