Who hires the stage hands?

Just wondering again.

Who hires the people that set up and tear down the stage? What about the guys that set up the instruments, tune the guitars? Are these the same people tour after tour?

Do they put an ad in the help wanted section of newspapers? Are they hired in America, Europe? Lots of passports and screenings.

The touring crew are hired by the production manager (Opie) on the stones tour. He is hired by the band and after he is given a budjet from micheal cohl and a design from mark fisher hires carpenters to build the set (14 on this tour) Riggers to hang the motors (4 on this tour) a lighting and sound company PRG and Claire Brothers in this case to provide their services ( who provide their own personel). He also hires a trucking Company (Upstaging in the states Transam in europe) to transport the gear and then in each city hires around a 150 local stagehands from the local union or labour company to do the grunt work.

Phil11,

How do you know all this, not being sarcastic, just curious. Were you involved in the crew at one time?
