I have a boot and wouldn't spend a penny on Macca. Isn't is interesting that Macca's emphasis is on the music being timeless and appealing to people of all ages. The crowd shots show very old to very young and lots of families.

The Stones and Scorsese on the other hand decide that for their movie there should be no middle aged men and the crowd shots should be fake titted bimbos who don't even know their songs. Macca is keeping it real while the Stones become even more phony posers. SAD, SAD, SAD!!!

Hasn't he released more live CDs/DVDs than the Stones in the last 10 years?

It´s a great DVD. Great sound. Only thing I don´t like that much is that 60% of the camera work shows fans. Macca always does this, but I would have loved to have a film focussing only on the show as you see it from the perspective of a fan. This film shows more what Paul sees when he looks into the crowd: Some silly dancing of aged fans. No need to torture a DVD audience with this.

Yeah He should have hired a bunch of young models to dance around up front.

Before you start commenting on Macca, you should first take off your "bashing-mask".

The Stones have made 6 live-releases in the last 10 years, Macca has released 4.
Both are nostalgia-acts to the general public.

Of course his is slammed on this forum, and The Stones on his forum. That says a lot more about all of you so-called "fans". Sad.

It's true, the film doesn't work, but there is nothing wrong with the Music and Performance.
I personally hate the "documentrary"-feel of the movie. Also, it's annoying watching twisted fans, but that doesn't make his concerts not worth seeing.

I have seen him 3 times, and it was equal to the Stones, sorry!

Paul McCartney. Jeez, I just puked. Yuk. Can't stand the guy. Even as a Beatle was outshined by Lennon. Wouldn't spend a penny on him. If you get my ambiguity. The only exception I'll give him was Band On The Run. Which was outstanding. But that was it. What he tried to do after John's murder, putting his name first instead of John's on the Beatles credits was unforgivable. Jeez, I just puked again.

........McCartney.......has earned respect. There's no taking away the fact that he was a partner to several iconic moments in pop culture.......however, the inference that his recent performances are anywhere close to the Stones or Jagger specifically is a little far fetched to say the least............................. It's pretty much a universal assessment (set list arguments aside) that what the Stones are doing on stage in 2005/2006 is pretty remarkable.

Yeah I have it. The performances are great, fantastic picture, as HD cameras were used, and the sound is very good, the only annoying thing is that between EVERY song, there is interview footage, which gets a bit much. Everyone is bigging up paul, which is ok for a seperate documentary feature, but you just wanna sit back and watch the concert, without the interuptions.

It is really amazing to hear please please me, i'll get you, etc though. I saw the opening night of the tour in miami and it was incredible. So its a great souvenir for me. Cool stage, with the coloured lighting all over the floor.

Incredible to me that people have the audacity to criticize a guy like McCartney.

Here is a guy who is responsible for so many songs that will live for 1000 years. An undisputed "genius" by any reasonable person's definition. One of the 2 men responsible for the entertainment phenomenon of the last 500 years.

And yet we pick on him for his choice of women and the odd clunker that he wrote. If only any of us had the slightest clue what it must be like to have lived the life he has. If only any of us had a millionth of the talent that he has.

Anyone who can't appreciate this man should keep their ignorance to themselves, and stop embarrassing themselves.

Did Macca comment on Keith Richard's request for Please Please Me in your DVD?

There is a difference between objectively critiquing someone's work and being mean-spirited.

To pretend that we understand Paul's life or relationships or to presume that we understand the man based on what we read in the media is ridiculous.

He might be a great guy or he might be a jerk. I haven't the slightest idea which. But what I do know is that he has no equal as a pop-song writer.

The version i bought (from HMV in the UK) came with a bonus cd of interviews and live tracks, and, sure enough, he talks about hanging with keith on holiday and that he told paul that he HAD to do please please me. And that is basically why he did it. The version is f*cking great as well. True to the original but with a nice modern sound to it.

I've been a Beatles and Stones fan all my life.
I saw Paul McCartney for the first time last year in Vegas.
Sad to say, it was a very boring show.
It was proof to me that John was the real deal.
Paul has turned into an Elton John type figure.

Thanks.
It must be nice as well as his "Rock Show."

Now *that* is what is called subjective (and I would not agree).

The problem is Marc Haefli. The guy who Macca hires for these films. I love the songs and, as with a Stones DVD, there's almost no boring songs. It would be good to see a whole Macca show on DVD, but he keeps hiring Haefli. So every new Macca DVD has the same kinds of shots. And it really makes me vomit to see crying fans. Pure vile. It would be OK to have it once in a while, but not all the time. Still the DVD is good I think. But there is some bad things in it. I agree Mr. Jimmy.

Yes it's funny. Please Please Me is one of the best on there. Also the other old Beatles songs like 'Till There Was You, I'll Get You and Magical Mystery Tour (Good choice for an opener).
Sorry I didn't catch him on this tour since I'm from Europe, but I saw him on the 2004 Summer Tour in Denmark. It was great and way better than the previous year also in Denmark.

BTW: I don't buy this "Lennon is the true genius" cliche. Granted he was the one who made the best songs in the Beatles, but he was also the one who went both highest AND lowest in quality of the songs. Macca was way more constant. And who can argue with Hey Jude?

I liked the new DVD, but Get Back is still my fav by him, and I enjoy Mccartney II

I like big drums. Drum shops generally don't have old stuff. To me, the second-hand stuff is part of the fun of drums. That natural kit that I use-that's an early Gretsch kit with the round logo on it.

Yeah this was a great opener, and for some reason i had this 'vision' or 'thought' before the show that he would maybe open with that song, or maybe back in the ussr, was my other choice. On one of the philadelphia shows a few days into the tour, they are just starting the show, and the 3-2-1 voice comes over the PA (similar to the 04 summer tour intro, i think, but i wasnt there as he didnt play england apart from glastonbury, and that was impossible to get tickets for) and as the curtain gets pulled up, it takes pauls microphone with it, so he's left there, and waiting to do the "roll up, roll up" intro, and he cant do shit! I heard a recording of it online somewhere and its funny, the band just go through the verse chords a few times, and abe laboriel jr is laughing and just shouts out "a ha ha... rock and roll!!".

Yeah i wouldve loved to have seen the 2004 show. He played 'you won't see me'. MAN! I love that song!

I have to disagree there, i think they were both equally amazing in the beatles, even though strawberry fields forever is perhaps better known, and a complex song, penny lane is just as good, for its simplicity and the way it tells a story. And hello goodbye is just 100% genius. Amazing when he opened his 2002-2003 shows with it.

but he was also the one who

Lennon's post beatles output is overrated. A lot of it is such crap, more so than macca, although paul has also put out some crap since 1970!

No-one can argue with hey jude, or for no-one, eleanor rigby, here there and everywhere, etc etc etc!
