A danish guitarshop called Aage Jensen has imported only one exact replica of Eric Clapton´s Blackie-guitar made by the Fender Custom Shop,and the prize is 159.000 danish kroner.

Fender Eric Clapton Blackie Custom Shop

Fender Custom Shop har nu gen-fremstillet Eric Claptons elskede Stratocaster, Blackie, ned i mindst, patinerede detalje. Det er første og sidste gang det sker. Den er fremstillet i 275 eksemplarer på verdensplan, og AAGE har sikret sig Danmarks eneste eksemplar.

Eric Clapton samlede Blackie af tre forskellige Stratocastere. Guitaren blev hans hovedguitar fra 1973 til 1985 på klassiske album som 461 Ocean Boulevard og Slowhand, hvor den også er foreviget. I 2004 forærede Eric Clapton Blackie til rehabiliteringsinstitutionen Crossroads Centre, der bortauktionerede den for den nette sum af 959.500 dollars. Fender Custom Shop Tribute Series Blackie er investering, samlerobjekt og gudeinstrument i ét. En del af beløbet går til Crossroads Centre på Antigua og et takkebrev herfra medfølger.

Kassen er den historisk korrekte Duck Brothers-flightcase. Derudover medfølger luksuriøst tilbehør som et Eric Clapton-signeret certifikat, Fender Master Builder certifikat og interview-dvd, Crossroads cd-bokssæt, officielt Christie's auktionskatalog og Crossroads Foundation brochure.

You have to admire the skills of the Custom Shop's builders and the meticulous care taken to produce these models...but how the f*ck are those prices justified ?

I can't see why a scratch of a pen would make a difference. I don't understand the value autographs in general either.

Slowhand has already auctioned off his blackie guitar anyway hasn't he? I think a replica of his SG (psychadelic painting) he used on Disraeli Gears would be better.

Wouldn't surprise me if Gibson did a CS replica of that "fool" SG at some point.
Their EC 335 is silly money too. [like the limited run Jimmy Page Les Paul].
Superb guitars and lots of loving workmanship in them...but the prices are obscene. The saddest thing is that all these are very unlikely to ever be played in anger! They're all bought by the rich collectors...who they're made for in the first place.
Fair enough when you look at it that way I suppose. They want the product and are prepared to pay for it...so why not sell it to them !

The Blackie-replica was sold yesterday to an anonymus guitarist.Before that a guy called Billy Cross,who actually have jammed with Eric Clapton as a part of Bob Dylan´s band in 1978,playede a little on the guitar.Se pics and text in danish here [www.aage.dk] click on the "Blackie solgt med det samme"-article.
