So the Rolling Stones do great covers of a few great Temptations songs, like "Ain't Too Proud To Beg", "Just my Imaginations", and "My Girl".
It's a wonder that the Stones ever again tried other Temps' songs after My Girl. That track by the Stones, IMO, is just embarassing to listen to. Anyone DISagree?
Thanks, Bro. I have the Stax version of "Don't Miss Your Water" that Tosh later covered (very well too). Didn't know about WADLB. Did Tosh write that? Co-write with Mick?
I'll disagree. I like the Stones version of My Girl. It's a good fit for the Flowers album. I also like their version of Under the Boardwalk, which I think alot of people don't care for.

Smokey Robinson co-wrote it in the mid 60's
The Stones live cover of "Cant Get Next to You" is basically a cover of a cover. It uses the same arrangement as Al Green's version.
The Stones also used a few bars of "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" on the studio version of "Out Of Control" (as well as The Doors' 'Riders on the Storm')
The Stones' covers of Aint Too proud To Beg and Just My Imagination are superb, especially the latter. Still prefer the originals, though but the Stones' covers are just brilliant in a different way. 'My Girl' though is a turd of a cover, although maybe when Mick's voice matured a few years later they could have done a decent version of it.
The Temps were part of the all-star jam at the RNRHOF induction in 1989 which featured the Stones and many others in the usual chaotic superstar bun-fest finale. The medley included Aint too proud to Beg, My Girl and get Ready.
few bands have ever accummulated a collection of great singles as good as those guys. They were fabulous. Too many of them died way before their time.

I used to listen to the the Stones Aint Too Proud Over and Over and pretend I was playing the drums along with it. I'd imagine I was playing with a band in some dive bar like in the Blues Brothers where your behind chicken wire and the aucience is throwin bottles.

I thought the Stones didn't intend to release it and that releasing it on the Flowers album was a move by their American record company.
I absolutely love The Temptations and I absolutely love The Stones, but any of the Stones covers of Temptations songs has resulted in an insult to both bands, in my opinion.

Yeah, Walk And Dont Look back is a shameful song...
Seriously. Does anyone else (or Mr Wiz fro Oz) have more pics of Temptations and more additional info... Think we bumped into a gold mine here. In my narrow-minded mind I thought this was some kind of disco band...
I didn't know that they covered CGNTY, but it sure isn't because it was before my time! I first saw the Stones in 1969.

They played Can't Get Next To You 13 times on Voodoo Lounge Tour (Twice in Washington)

I saw VL in NYC at MSG, and I might have forgotten hearing that song. (I think I might be getting older or something.)
My original point was just about My Girl (which I think is mediocre) and the great covers of temps songs they do after. I had a felling that there where 1 or 2 songs i'd forgotten...
