"i'm on the run, i hear the hounds my luck is up, my chips are down"
"Well, when you're sitting back In your rose pink cadillac Making bets on kentucky derby day Ill be in my basement room With a needle and a spoon And another girl to take my pain away"
"Yes, I saw them today. It's a sight I would say They're shooting down planes with their M-16 and with laughter"
and who can forget:
"he moon is yellow but I'm not jello Staring down your tits"
"Ooh the lamps are lit, the moon is gone. I think I crossed, the rubicon"
Can't understand why people don't like this song.
"Lyin' awake in a cold, cold sweat. Am I overdrawn, am I going in debt? It gets worse, the older that you get. No escape from the state of confusion I'm in.

Yes I am talking about No Expectaions. I also thought the line was "sweet charmed life" which is where I got my nickname from. Until somebody more knowledgeable than me pointed out, that the lyric is actually "short charmed life". So I looked it up, and sure enough the official lyrics say short charmed life. This is my favorite stones song, I have heard it a million times, and I would swear it was sweet, not short. But thanks cindy, I am glad I am not the only one that heard it differently. But after all these years I think the stones have certainly had a Sweet Charmed Life, and so have I.

It's "sweet short life". Heck I got it playing on headphones right now. But your username is OK, anyway.

Your right. I just checked the lyrics again. Great that's twice I have screwed up my so called favorite song. Damn at this point I could probably write a whole new song, based on my screwed up lyrics.
So many good ones. Some not so compelling in print, but it's how he sings them. The first one that got me a long time ago:
I was born in a crossfire hurricane And I howled at my ma in the driving rain
But it's all right now, in fact it's a gas But it's all right I'm Jumping Jack Flash, it's a gas, gas, gas ---------------------------- Cause she come every time that she pirouettes over me ---------------------------- Well I can run and jump and fish but I won't fight You if you want to push and pull with me all night -------------------------------- She busted in and she burglarised my soul But now the bad news: she's out on parole
Sure there are countless superb written lines in the song lyrics, but my favorite lines are made by the way Jagger delivers them. So something simple like "Maybe I mistreat'cha" from "Through the Lonely Nights", or "Baby./..sometimes I wanna keep you warm" from "Winter" or "..music make you forget all your trouble make you kiss and make you tell the whole wide world..."from "Hot Stuff" are the best things ever. Others "..if she's so wild she can join in too.." from the LIVE "Stray Cat Blues" "..down on the waterfront her hair all drenched in spray.." from "Memory Motel" " I love my baby, 99 degrees, but that mooma got a pistol laid it down on me" from "Stop Breaking Down".
"...no longer shall you trudge 'cross my peaceful mind."
Another day, maybe another point of view. There are of course other gems. However, one of them is and will always be the fourth verse of "No Expectations". (I will not try to state my reasons and ruin the impression)
Our love was like the water That splashes on a stone Our love is like our music Its here, and then its gone
