Chuck's new blog entry

From Chuck:
I'm trying to post some of the interesting bits here, if you don't wanna read everything on his blog winking smiley

Beacon Rehearsals:
We went through All Down The Line, As Tears Go By, Just My Imagination, I’m Free, Sympathy, JJ Flash, and some of the others. I had campaigned for Rip This Joint, Too Much Blood, 19th Nervous Breakdown, Dear Doctor, Moonlight Mile, Let Me Go, Crazy Mama….some of the new tunes like Laugh, I Nearly Died and Neo Con… and more, but it was becoming apparent that there just wasn’t enough time to try them and we would have to go with what we had. Mick left a bit early and we went through several of Keith’s songs afterwards, calling it a night around 11:30.

Mick and I had Little Red Rooster in there as a duet with Van Morrison, who was opening up for us. We even went over LLR in Keith’s dressing room with a small set up. But just before the show Van copped out and left, so we replaced Rooster with Flowers.

Come on arent they professionals? Play a song any old time it makes the song so much better than these overreahearsed version they do?!? Atleast they played some new songs recently. I truly think that this is it for Stones, last show will be in Vancouver.

About Oakland - seems to confirm what the reviews here said.
The gig went really well…up to Connection. We were unclear on the arrangement, and as a result it was quite a mess. But we got through it, and it was the only real problem of the night…well, I do recall the ending of Under My Thumb was somewhat “confused”…anyway, overall it was a great gig.

Van Morrison would have been fantastic... How typical of him is it to leave like he did ?
As for Chuck, he is a good man and obviously the only one pushing hard for the inclusion of new songs (however, he should stop playing the intro to Under My Thumb).

hey perhaps they actually enjoy playing it! Reherals often include songs to warm up,and enjoy just jamming.

Man I was holping Van would do a tune. What a great chance for some legendary musicians to hook up. But van's set sucked anyway, so maybe we didn't miss anything.

Van's set is up on DIME...here's the URL:[www.dimeadozen.org]

As much as we all like to joke about the useless content of his blog. (the above blurb is very typical) I still enjoy the few nuggets we get. Thanks Chuck.

Re: Too Much Blood....seems like the Stones are rediscovering the Undercover album. I'd love to hear TMB....and All The Way Down.

Yet another interesting read from Chuck. the music and the lowdown on the tour changes.

I am flying back across the Atlantic for this Friday's gig - so here's praying nothing else goes wrong ...this tour has been cursed more than the Johnny Depp's pirate.

Why do football players rehearse standard situations like penalties, corners or anything else?

I'd say the same answer applies to both occasions.

Yes, there was a recent concert (can't remember which one) where JJFlash got screwed up a bit. All songs need rehearsals. Not only to avoid mistakes, but also to come up with new licks and stuff.

also i guess they use this type of songs they know so well like a kind of stretching before going into the other stuff

Chuck's dining would make a great category on the Jeopardy television show.

Yeah!

I mentioned that before in another thread. It has a contemporary fell, hip-hop like. The lyrics could be fun live. It gives the horn section a chance to shine, and, at an appropriate time, unlike the horns in SFTD years back.

If Chuck doesn't give a rat's ass about cancleing AC and leaving 12,000 stuck with their travel costs why should anyone care about all he whines about including his $25 jeans and laundry bill?

He should try being a fan if he really wants something to whine about.

i agree with steven

chucks attitude about AC is so dissapointing (he said as much in an email to me)..

basically the beacon was more important to them than AC...

what about what was important to me? we drove 6 hours plus in the rain in terrible conditions to get there.. only to find out show had been cancelled.

we'll be at make up date but somehow it doesn't feel the same right about now..

Of the old songs Rip This Joint is number one on my wish list and Laugh I Nearly Died is number one as far as the new songs. Go Chuck! We'll probably have to wait until next summer to have a shot at these or anything else they haven't played yet on this tour, but at least there's hope.
