Maybe he should open for the stones in Wembley. That would be very cool.

Well? Isn't that cool?

He still draws good crowds in the US. Arenas (10,000 - 20,000) not stadiums. Adding the remaining Faces would be a nice touch - and help move tickets! Ooops, Ronnie Wood might be busy with his other group.

if he tries to charge 80-100 + pounds sterling, for a ticket, he's going to struggle, big time.
Elton John did a UK football stadium tour, this summer, and the show i attended at London's Charlton Athletic F.C, (although good and entertaining) was heavily papered... not suprising, given the ticket prices were anything from £50-£100... and he's a bigger draw than Rod.
I just don't think people are prepared to stump up such large sums, for these acts anymore.
Even Christina Aguilera is charging 80-100 pounds for a seat on her upcoming UK tour. WTF!! how can she justify that??

Pretty soon supply and demand will take over. The average income fan will no longer be willing to pay these prices for normal (read non-Rolling Stones) acts.

Bob Seger is holding his prices in line ($63 for all tickets in Atlanta), but may have under-estimated his drawing power (1st tour in 10 years, good new CD, on classic radio all the time, many younger fans have never seen him, etc.).

Most acts have priced themselves out of my range (Stones excepted). Used to go see 'em all, now just 1 or 2 a year.

The "S" acts provide good entertainment for the money - Stones, Springteen, Seger, Stewart, Skynyrd.

Last time around he sold out 5 dates in Glasgow, 4 in Manchester etc. so he can sell out 20000 seaters. Top ticket price was £50 so if he sticks to that it should be alright.

He was on German TV on Saturday doing a medley of Have You
Ever Seen The Rain, It´s A Heartache (Bonnie Tyler´s:-(
and another midtempo tune. All family friendly. Puke.

A pity what he did/does with his talent.

It's always the richest artists who has these insane ticket-prices. They don't need more money. The local club bands should charge 100-150£ for tickets instead of the Stewart/Stones/Streisand etc.

Exactement! His performance was so poor and really old-fart like (compared to him Justin Timberlake rocked the house so to speak ;-) I was too shocked to vomit!
Wasted talent really hits the nail, I really loved the man and what he did with the Faces, the Jeff Beck Group and his first couple of solo records. But stardom has really #+*!" him big time! That American Songbook Mother#*+* and now slimey R&R covers, how low can you go Rod?

Well I went to see him last time and surprised myself.

Actually had a good night.

His backing band and singers were really good.

Would have happily paid to listen to them on their own.

A friend of mine passed on the news that Genesis are giving a press conference tomorrow (Tuesday).

A tour perhaps?

yeah, they'll be touring next year

Christ - I find their music pretty tedious. Can only imagine what their press conferences must be like...

Saw him for the first and only time four years ago (before the 'American songbook' stuff) and thought he was excellent

You're right about his band. Especially J'anna Jacoby - the ever-smiling girl who plays violin, mandolin and pretty much everything but the kitchen sink. Could have watched her all night. A goddess

I've seen Rod a few times and I agree about Jana. She's truly enjoyable to watch for multiple reasons.

I saw the Hollywood Bowl show 2 years ago with the semi Faces reunion on stage with Ronnie and Mac playing along with Rod and that was a great night. It was the first time I ever met Ronnie as well.

Perhaps the stage will be sort of mid field so he's not playing the full stadium at the various venues? At BC Place in Vancouver, the Stones are playing the full stadium so there will be around 50,000 or so. I've seen AC/DC and Van Halen play there but their stages were right around mid field so it had around 25k capacity.

I also agree about Jana. I didn't notice her until I bought his Albert Hall DVD from a couple years ago. She's awesome on Maggie May/Gasoline Alley. I believe she's currently touring with the Dixie Chicks.

Interesting note about the Dixies is that they had trouble selling tickets at some of their shows in the southern US and I believe they had to cancel in several cities. Their current tour of Canada is probably the biggest after the Stones. They are/did play two nights in several cities including Toronto, Calgary, Winnipeg and Halifax. As well, the venues in the other cities like Vancouver, Edmonton, Montreal, etc. are sold out or close to being sold out. These are all the major hockey arenas.

Rod's got a LOT of loyal fans in the entire UK.

If the price is fair he'll do well, even though his voice ain't what it used to be.

His audiences love to sing "Sailing" for him.

What's he gonna do about the middle-aged fans? Oh dear. What a dilemma!

Maybe Scorcese can help him out with a bevy of mindless models for the front rows.

thanks for the correction Gazza- i was estimating 5 - 10,000 off capacity, for the stage etc... but i appreciate i got the figures wrong.
i've been to Portman Road afew times down the years, but have so far (thankfully) avoided the new Ricoh Stadium...
(here's hoping i continue to avoid it!)

Is that going to be his "Still the Same" tour or his "Great Rock Classics of Our Time" tour? If it's the first, it may actually be nice, as he would be doing sort of a greatest hits tour of his own hits - but if it's the latter, and he would be doing a greatest hits tour of other people's hits, it would be a sorry sight.
