Im going to the show and for the first time I really am not sure what to expect for an opening song.

the other shows ive been to I knew ahead of time what the first song would be, and ended up being right.

thers been so many different opening songs this leg of the tour, its really anyones guess.(well, between about five songs) Im putting my money on JJF.

Usually if they're opening with JJF on this tour that means they'll do the most basic shows. If they open with a bit less known song like Paint It Black that means you can expect some obscure songs in the set. And if they open with very unusual song (like You Got Me Rocking) it means you can expect some nice surprices in the setlist like covers or rarely (never?) played songs. So is JJF worth your money?

if thats the case, than no its not. Im not expecting another beacon but Im optimistic that there will be some nice stuff in there. Maybe not suprises, but Some good variety of songs.

They opened with JJF in Beacon and they mixed up the rest of the setlist nicely there.

this is so cool that after Beacon shows you don't really know what to expect. What song will they open with ? What tunes will get out from Beacon's setlists and get in into Oakland set...this is nice feeling of unexpected in the air making it even more exiting !

Yes but Beacon was quite different thing. Not a usual tour gig.

They opened with Start Me Up at both San Francisco shows.
Expect a different opening song for their 3rd Bay Area show, like IORR, YGMR, JJF or PIB.

Thanks erik, I was just about to look up what they opened with at last year's SF shows when I saw your post. Although you would think I would remember since I was at both shows. But my middle aged memory is not what it used to be. I hope it is not JJF. Hopefully they will do something different, altough I agree with ryanpow,it is a different feeling not having a recent show to compare setlists with. But I hope they carry over loving cup & shine a light from the beacon shows.

They'll be playing only obscure tunes for Oakland. They are just SO sick 'n' tired and bored playing the warhorses. Oakland will be the beginning of a whole new era. Well, if they don't do it in Oakland, surely Boise.

How about Sympathy for an opener. Now that would be different!

Time will tell, I think it's be the standard football stadium show except maybe the sequence order may be changed up to snazz it up a little.

maybe they'll do some John Lee Hooker thing. He played at SF's Boom Boom room regularly.

Cool picture, too.

It's kind of frustrating that they're breaking out all these rarely played tunes just as the tour is almost over. But I suppose it's better to look at it as the glass is half full (I'm glad they're playing them at all) rather than half empty (why couldn't this have happened sooner?).

did Stones ever played that stadium before?
what sound can we expect, on the field for instance?

ive never seen them there , so I dont know about the sound, but theyve played it alot. 78, all the steel wheels VL and BTB shows.

There's something wierd about that sentence. You Got Me Rockin' in Chicago? Should have been Little Red Rooster, Meet Me In The Bottom, I Can't Be Satisfied...or something like that.

I think what 'e means is that We'll get a show that opens w/ YGMR like they did in Chicago and get a similar type set.
