Beely...I LOVE Tony Bennett...he's the @#$%& man! But...come on, this was quite a surprising twist...JJF??? Maybe he'll join The Who too on "Won't Get Fooled Again". And yes, he'll be amazing...

Beelyboy, time to listen to some reggae and chill my friend.
We Are Free - Burning Spear
No more cryin' Oh oh, no more weepin' Oh no, no more mournin' Shout it out, I said it loud and clear Tell them that you know we are free again Free from the wicked man Free from the misery Oh yes, we are free again Oh yes, we are free again
The Stones sold out, Christina Aguilera and Tony Bennet....very sad. They should have hooked up with Burning Spear or some other Rasta, they owe it to them. Thankfully Buddy Guy was there to represent the Blues.

Great set list!! Toney Bennett?! Wow! I am surprised. But go for it boys, shake it up! And great to have a guy in his 70's! They are acknowledging that it doesn't matter how old you are if you wanna rock you can roll! Great! SHINE A LIGHT! With Jack White! Wow! Can't wait to see that!
We got the set list, now how about the inside scoop on how the boys sounded. How was Keith and Ronnie's playing? Was Mick's voice in top form? Could be that is why the Atlantic show was cancelled. He might have been getting over a cold and wanted to preserve his voice for the DVD.

This was the most important gig for the stones during the fall tour. This is good publicity. The rest of the tour is business as usual.

One of the reasons is I have begun sleeping at nights.
i just got home from the show and afterpartying - i am incredibly lucky - i carried a sign around for 2 days and it paid off - someone from the clinton foundation gave me 4 free tickets and wristbands just after buddy guy opened. what a feeling to walk through those doors - the place felt like a real party - lots of people i met over 2 days joining together in celebration of getting and reuniting. the theater was so beautiful and the setlist on fire - one incredible song after another. very few warhorses. they really pulled it off. i was pretty disheartened before the show with talk of hiring people to sit in the unsold clinton seats and i didn't see any others get tickets so lots of people were stuck outside - there were no ticket releases as we were led to believe.

i had two versions - one yesterday and one today but both asked for a ticket. it was a lot of hard work - lots of people (mostly crew) laughed at me. mick saw me and the sign twice yesterday and today. i had not met the guy who gave me the tickets so i don't know who decided but they were very generous with four. i cannot imagine being outside and missing this one. again, i am very lucky.
Man, long drive to DC, but here I am. It was a great evening for me. I met Bjornulf, who mentioned that he had spent three weeks in Tokyo (where I flew in from). I saw a pretty, very petite woman talking about carrying around a sign for two days, but didn't realize it was Queenie until I read her post. Congratulations. It was, obviously, an amazing setlist. I thought that all of the guests performed well (especially Christina, who was absolutely nasty). Tony Bennett was not there; that's BS. I'll wait for others to chime in, but I just didn't like the atmosphere -- before, during and after the concert, most of the energy was coming from the upper balcony. Despite the almost shocking setlist, it felt a bit too rehearsed? to me.
Also, I kept thinking about everyone who got screwed in AC -- I don't care what others say, I know in my heart of hearts, that the reason they skipped out on AC was because they needed to rehearse for this show (the duets must have taken significant work).
But, of course, I feel blessed to have been there tonight, hope to get to at least one more show (that isn't cancelled) on this leg, and would love to see them in Brussels in 07. . . .
