Call Me Old Fashioned but I love Infamy!!!

I don't why Infamy gets such bad press on this site, I think it has a great groove, great harp, good lyrics and one of Keefs better vocal performances- Am I alone amongst heathens??!!

I for one will most certainly not call you old fashioned; I too think Infamy is a great song and I feel privileged to have heard it live - they were playing it on the 2005 leg of the ABB tour in the States. I'm not aware that song gets bad press on this site. Does it ?

I can take or leave the version on the album, but I thought it worked better when played live

PaulyWaul, just been combing some of the threads for a recent slag off of Infamy but can't find it again. Just one of those impressions you get that it high on the favourites list of many, I like much better than Keiths end of the evening songs e.g Losing My Touch etc...

I think most Keith songs are better than Infamy. But it's better live, like Gazza wrote.

Good, not great. But for me I prefer the studio version simply because Mick's harmonica and no horns. Sounds much different live and would have been great if Mick played his harmonica part when played live.

I think that Keith wrote it for Mick to sing back to him. The lyrics make a lot of sense that way.

I love this song, but Gazza's right the live version is not captured on the studio track. I hope they release this one, or I can get a boot from one of the shows I wanna grab....

Great song, IMO. It has something from pure "Tom Waits spirit"...

I actually prefer the album version, but I like 'em both. Honestly, while not a "great song" per se, this is one of my favorite Keith tracks. I thought it made a wonderful ending to a good album.

It's a damn fine Keith song....Way cooool sound,
well produced and springs like a rubber driven Jews Harp....

And the added lyrics and slurring vocal work of the live versions are a must hear...

You were there last year too then? Way in the back of the Rosegarden, Portland, OR...my second (and so far, last) US show. I liked Infamy at first instant and was glad to hear it live!

When I heared it for the first time 14 months ago, I liked it imediatelly, whereas it's a bit better, if it's done live. I can't understand, why Keith didn't play this song sometime in Europe, although, I liked Keith's set. Anyway, since the 90'ies, I like almost every song from Keith, not including "Loosing My Touch". Songs like "This Place Is Empty", "How Can I Stop" or "The Worst" are wonderfull ballads, I love them, sung by Keith!!

I find it not even a song but just a 3-chord lick with lyrics on top... And not only do I feel I have heard this specific chord progression hundreds of times before (and in hundreds of times more original songs), but you can hear an almost similar one right there within aBB, the title of which escapes me now...

All right, so the other one is the copy... :OI... Hmmm, I am really not too fond of A Bigger Bang, and understand perfectly why they don't do it much live.

It's a HIT, darling! (hur-hur)

Got up this morning to wake up the kid as I usually do. He finally come out into the kitchen while humming this tune and singing a few words - and finally it hit me - my KID is humming/singing Infamy first thing in the morning.

Had to get the big handkerchief out there .... great moment ;-) (he's 11 btw)

...and just listening to ABB right now...the last track ;-)

Mofur (btw always liked your name!) my sons who are 16 & 13 (& my daughter who is 12) rates this as the best cut from ABB and loves the use of words like abundently within it. Funny that it seems to appeal to a younger audience as well. I get a buzz that they like it!

Hi Neilly43

Thanks for the kind words on my nick (hur-hur) - and it just goes to show that something like Infamy could become a freak hit - it's not us grown-up who do hits make - it's the kids.

My kid is Danish (as am I - hur, hur) so he makes most of the words up (except infamy)...but very good with melody

It's one of the best songs from the ABB. Period.

At first, the guitar loop that goes through the whole song felt a little uncomfortable, but I got accustomed to these sounds more sooner than later.

See you later.

Keith's best in a long time.

I never liked it live...it sounded empty, weak and messy. The studio cut is tight. Live, it's missing Mick's harp which adds to the groove of the song.

So do I!!

Great song, and one of Keith's finest.
