I don't care too much about Rolling Stones, they are funny to watch, Mick is a good dancer, but they're not musicians. I really don't have any favourite album with them. Best album , considering every artist....hmmm...I guess I'll go for something with Emerson Lake & Palmer, or Earth Wind & Fire. Something with 3 names, that's very cool.
Exile on Main Street - This multi-genre collection of songs from when the Stones were arguably at their creative peak never gets old to me. Keith's masterpiece.
Beggars Banquet. The first Golden Era album I bought, a milestone in my music listening life. The graffiti and the banquet cover pictures, and all the amazing often acoustic sounding tunes with wicked production and strange lyrics, it all gave it the mystique which it still carries today despite the fact that I've heard and read so much about these songs, that I've changed my outlook on music since that time when I was 13 years old.
Sticky Fingers/Exile - SF is tighter, but Exile is best. Let It Bleed - Would have been No. 1, but all these years, I have wanted HTW on it. I once put a tape together -- slotted HTW in place of Country Honk on Side One, and moved Country Honk right before YCAGWYW (as kind of a coda). It worked very well.
This has to be Sticky Fingers. Must be galling never to exceed something you did in the early Seventies, but then how can anyone better (near) perfection?
Have just bought Bigger Bang, after posting flippant comments when asked if we are all still banging. I really like it, many of the tracks sound like I've heard them before and forgotten them... or perhaps just early senility is setting in... OK it's only handicap hurdle class compared to Sticky Fingers but it's still pretty damn good
the album i've probably gotten the most out of, and i love beggars, let it bleed, sticky fingers and exile any of which could also be my favorite, is get yer ya yas out.
So far from 1963 to 2006...That's the best....one big loooooooong album.... Now...Heads...12x5....Sticky ...Exile..Bang etc etc etc they just chapters along the way....
Their transformation from a pop music band to quite literally, the greatest rock n' roll band in the world, was complete and utter. Everything, absolutely everything about that album is perfect. It is the blueprint to which rock n' roll music should be referred.
Seems everyone is very interested in UNDERCOVER these days......"she was Hot".... if you open yopur cd player i am not going to see undercover in there a whole lot .... SF EXILE LIB SG BB .............then you get picky right???

Good call. I keep insisting too that it's a great track.
