Advice: On Stage boxes? Thanks!

Thinking of getting an On Stage Box for Chicago. Is this worth $500??

For those that have done it, please advise.

Thanks!

It is a nice experience. You are above and behind the band, but it is a pretty cool perspective. On the other hand, for $500, check razorgator or some other reputable broker and find yourself a seat in the first 10 rows. It is a much better overall experience.

save your money - for that you can score at least a pair of FOS tickets the day of show. OnStage is an okay experience - but it wasn't worth the $250 I spent last year, let alone the insane asking price this year. poor sound - bad sight lines.

I don't understand the "specialness" of paying $500+ USD to be up standing in back of the band and up high. I think it's misleading they're called "On Stage" seats... It's really "Rear Stage Balcony Standing Room Only". It must be the V.I.P. gift bag you get?

For $130 I had a front row side view seat (220L) at MGM Grand in March...I didn't receive a gift bag but the view was close and even though I didn't sit down too much, it was nice having the option to sit, which I did sit during the relaxing Keef set. The view was perfect, the proximity even better and the sound was crystal clear. Best of all was the price!

Don't do it. I did it once and wish I'd gone for another seat instead.

Check this site for tix as fans offer up good deals for good seats.
Also, the patient can get great RS ticket deals on ebay. Prices may start high but they go down as you get closer to the show. I've seen first 10 rows sold for face value or less on ebay. Check the sellers ebay feedback to aid you in making your decision to bid or not.

Have you ever sat behind the band for a show. U2 did that to me and it sucks! I thought wow, I'm right by the stage, but you can't see, the sound sucks and I agree with Stonestod. You can get 25th row center for that price(still available)

i've posted before that i had great experiences on stage - 4 times and i will be on stage in chicago (and i also have some for sale for face). if you read the review from san diego last year, someone noted that keith spent a lot of time playing to the on stage boxes (ego aside, that was to me, actually). the point is, you can get a lot of personal attention from them because you are so close - it's pretty cool.

I paid $250 for a lower box and LOVED it.
So there.

I paid $250 for a lower box in Hershey and loved every delicious second of it. Sure I was "behind" the stage, but I was also only 30-40 feet from the band and Woody and Lisa and Blondie spent practically the whole show waving and smiling at us. Plus, when Mick came up onto the riser to sing Sympathy, he was so close to me that I could have spit on him ... had I wanted to. And as for the sound, it was kickass from back there, but I imagine the sound probably varies from venue to venue.

I would definitely recommend doing the stage-box thing, but only if you're in a lower box. From what I've heard, the upper boxes just don't provide the same experience.

Thanks for the comments. Seems to be a mixed bag. Probably, I'll get a regular seat.

How do you know if a box is lower or upper?? Ticketmaster doesn't say.

Re: Advice: On Stage boxes? Thanks!
Date: October 9, 2006 19:44

Yes it would be nice if Ticketmaster said EXACTLY where box #7 ( or 10 or 5 etc ) is located, but they do not.

I was in the On-stage box in Toronto last year, but I wound up leaving it during Miss you
(and the moving to the 2nd stage) I went out to the main arena to view FOS.
Plus we did not get the "gift bag". Oh well it was cool for a while.

However in LA, We might buy another another seat up there becuase LA prices
$500.00 is not that crazy, but I can not tell where the boxes are.

If anyone knows FOR SURE, it would be nice to know. maybe if anyone has a
Ticketmaster connection, tell them to post a seating chart. It is possible it is there, and I just missing it.

Isn't it a first come first serve type of thing and they herd everyone in like cattle to the boxes? Does first in line mean you fill in the top boxes first and the lower boxes last or is it vice versa the other way around?

For that price, I prefer a seat near the front of the stage whether it be on the floor or to the near side.

You have an assigned box, but you're right about the herded cattle aspect. At Durham they lined us up well before the show, forcing you to miss most of the opening act. It then took a long time to get us to the boxes, which included a couple of instructions sessions. We had no access to any concessions, and trips to the bathroom required an escort from one of the staff.

It was a unique experience, and the sound was very good IMO, but I wouldn't do it again. I felt too removed from the whole concert-no light show, no Charlie (I assume he was there), no video, and of course you are far removed from the B-stage. But, to each his own..

I was On-stage for the Halifax show. It's worth it for true Stones fans who've already seen them before. Looking out over the thousands of fans is awe-inspiring. That alone is worth $$. The bonus is that, for the warm-up acts, you get to hang out up close to the stage - though you aren't allowed up into the On-stage area until 30 minutes before showtime. No regrets and I would do it again, even though I never did get my free T-Shirt.

you dont feel in the slightest shortchanged at that last bit - in addition to the fact that the tickets are now about twice the price they were on the previous leg of the tour, for no apparent reason? Must admit that the the appeal of being charged all that money for the 'awe inspiring' thrill of looking over the audience is absolutely lost on me

Cant see that its that much better (if it IS better at all) than the behind stage SEATS (or seats at the side of the stage, but behind the band that I had in Hartford) that they had on the No Security shows. That was quite interesting, and at least I could see the entire band for EVERY song (plus the opening act!) and the sound was good. And it was far from the most expensive seat in the house (in fact the behind stage ones, at $40, were the cheapest by some distance)

Giving it a catchy and misleading name like "on stage experience" just sounds like one of the oldest mareting gimmicks in the book - make it sound like its something special and give it an out of this world price-tag, and people will think theyre getting something extraordinary. And enough will be reluctant to admit afterwards publicly they were short changed.

Concentrate on Mick. You'll reaffirm what a genius he is!
You'll have firsthand knowledge of sound on stage. There's a little difference between front row seats and on stage.
Singing on such a big stage with many loud sound and noise is real chaos. It is like music in the storm.
Even though they have good monitor systems, it's not easy to sing along with sound of turned around and upside-down.
But he never go off course. He can sing and lead the band in mushroom soup.
It's incredible. One time experience is worth a thousand words.
