Out of curiosity I wonder if Wooden Records has the same approach as the late (bless him) Frank Zappa with the 'You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore' series? (just copying the bootlegs and put it out on his own label, no remastering, or new sources, etc.)

They were all compiled from FZ's own mastertapes.
What you mean here is the 'Beat the boots'-series (there were two of them). Those were just copies of bootlegs (even the artwork was copied).
does anybody know anything about 'Ronnie Wood 'Gems' Uncovered'? It's also on the latest page of [www.woodenrecords.co.uk] it this the 2cd set which was released during the european leg of abb?

You can order it online, for instance on play.com. I did...they don't have good music-stores where I live either.
The Essential Crossexion is a Virgin compilation, not an indie release like "Buried Alive." Since Ronnie doesn't own the rights to his 70s and 80s solo masters, I would think the "newly-discovered" gems would be outtakes only. As far as "Live and Eclectic" having received the tapes from Ronnie personally...while I don't doubt the word of the poster who called them, both Bill German and Nico Zentgraf claim the release was unauthorized. Perhaps they got the tapes from Jamie rather than Ronnie...

German and Zentgraf are wrong on this subject. The release was cleared with Ronnie's management - his manager checked the content and the artwork BUT neither Ronnie himself nor his management supplied the tapes. So Ronnie's involvement was minimal, he probably did nothing more than having a look at a proto-type testpressing and giving a "nice idea!"-kind comment. I have already noted that this "official" release does not sound any better than those Swingig Pig releases, so any guesses where they the recordings on Live an Eclectic were lifted from are welcome...!
Thanks for the info. Of course the source for Swingin' Pig and Live and Eclectic was, in both cases, a radio broadcast. There were several from Electric Ladyland at the time. All of which appeared as boots shortly thereafter.
From now on I pressume it is a straight copy from the video sourced Swingin'Pig version, until someone who has the 'new' version tells this is not the case.
I'm gonna buy this release cause I don't have the boot and i think mr. wood deserves the bucks for his performance.
I saw them in Atlanta, they were 1.5 or so hours late coming from Hartsfield, ALex Cooley (the promoter) came out to calm the Omni crowd a couple of times, brought out an old blues pianist, Piano Red (well known in ATL GA at the time) to entertain us while we all got wasted. The band showed up, the place rocked, great show.
To those who have the boot and/or have bought this release -- how is the sound?
