Hey Baboon, I knew you were a linguist in disguise :-)

The name of the town REGINA flows much easier from your lips, actually where I come from this is womens name... sweet...

But all sentimentalities and geographical, linguistic and philosophic ladidas aside, THE ROLLING STONES will give them REGINAlds a good kick up the butt...
... TWICE. Yes!

All the best to you, BV, and all the others who took the endless travel there!
Have a great time!

So why are the no concerts in Rostock (Germany), Erfurt (Germany), Gdansk (Poland), Krakow (Poland) etc. to name only a few East German or Polish "small big cities"?? Congratulations, Regina...

Regina people love to party and love their football team. Not the most scenic place on earth but a good spirit there. The winters are VERY cold!

I think Regina was Queen Elizabeth's middle name and there may have been an earlier Queen with that name? Not quite up on th history of the Monarch but Mick probably is.

Regina was Queen Victoria's middle name, she was the Quenne when the city was founded and named. The original name of the first site of the city was PILE OF BONES, (Massive piles of bison bones were collected here to be shipped by rail to eastern Canada to be used as fertilizer.)

Regina wasnt the middle name of either Queen Victoria or Elizabeth

Regina is simply Latin for 'queen' and Rex is 'king'. British monarchs use a Latin signature, eg Elizabeth Regina, Georgius Rex, etc

You'll see the initials of the current monarch ('ER II' at present) on things like post boxes, etc

Thankyou Gazza, there I was talking thru my hat again.... Victoria was the Queen when the city was renamed in 1882, in recognition to the then Queen of England.

The neat thing about Saskatchewan is that I have been there hundreds of times, all in one day. There's a border town called Lloydminster. Half of the town is in Saskatchewan, the other half is in Alberta. I visited there one weekend and purposefully crossed from one side to the other as many times as I could without looking like a whacko. So technically I've been in Saskatchewan many, many times.

Anyone with Rattlesnake Inn tickets in Regina - keep us informed. Be sure to talk with Chuck. He's a friendly, approachable guy.

"Regina is simply Latin for 'queen' and Rex is 'king'."

Yes, Gazza. That's why this gig reminded me of my first lesson in Latin: "REGINA ROSAS AMAT..." Many, many years ago, of course...

The Plexiglass treated me exactly the same at the first Regina show except for Bitch which was a killer. Regina II was a little different, but not vastly (however I did not see the second show). I do not presume to know or understand the ways and Mystery of the Plexiglass, but simply try to follow Its will and enjoy what It gives abundantly.

tim from Plexiglass, montana

Regina II was freezing cold but with the great crowd and a band on stage that did not seem to bother too much with the cold - even if I know Charlie could hardly keep on to his drumsticks, and Ronnie was biting nails - it was for sure the best of the two. Myself I put on four - yes 4 - T-shirts plus my sweater and jacket, jumped up and down like a teenager, and was pretty warm by the end of the show. Can't remember any colder show but I am sure Boston last January was equally culd, still that was indoor.

A crowd of some 200 people were waiting inside the hotel lobby in the afternoon, to see the band leaving. Success as Mick came down, waving at people, smiling and everybody was happy. Five minutes later Charlie was there and again a great applause from everybody. One lucky guy who discretely had a great poisition even managed to shake hands with Charlie, without bothering anyone, including Charlie. Keith and Ronnie left earlier. And outside the hotel, another large crowd. Tomorrow is Canadian Thanksgiving Day. No newspapers. No Stones. Things will be very quiet. And they will have something to talk about for a long long time. And on Tuesday, the local paper is planning yet another special, to celebrate today's show, and the Biggest Bang in Regina.

Hello! I have been reading this thread with interest. I live in Regina and went to see the show Friday night with my husband and son. AND, husband and son were so overwhelmed by the first show, they scrambled to find tickets for tonight's show as well. For me, seeing Mick, Keith, Ron and Charlie live was honestly (for a moment anyway) a breath-taker. We don't get a lot of really huge shows here, certainly never of this calibre, and it was amazing to see our small city pull it off! Part of being from Saskatchewan, it seems, is to try to make visitors feel welcome and I hope that's how the Stones and any visiting fans feel at the end of this unbelievable weekend. Thanks to whomever is responsible for bringing the gift of the Stones to us.
Oh, I almost forgot. The best part of the show in my opinion was Keith's T&A and Sympathy for the Devil. Mick still has "it"!
