NEW ALBUM in 2007?????

Hmmm, I doubt if there ever will gonna be a new studio album by The Rolling Stones. The interval between the last 2 (B2B and ABcool smiley is 8 years so I think we can expect nothing before 2013..............

Perhaps Keith has recorded it with Ron & Charlie behind Mick's back.

Let's hope it happens. They do have the "Memory Hotel" tracks to draw from. Also there's tons in the vaults (According to some people). New recorded versions of those would be cool.

If they decide it's a good idea to do an album, they'll do one. They can work very quickly when they want to. They just don't often want to ;^)

Anyone who says that 2007 is too early for a new album is an imbecile. They have plenty of time to write and record new material in the next year. I think that they need to release albums every 1-2 years from now on. Keith says that they want to show Rock & Roll can grow up and grow old. It's now time to prove it lads!

Excellent sentiment ! Dead right !

Question for IAmTheDJ:

I recently bought an old tape called "Golden Years" by Bowie. It's a compilation. Some of the songs I can remember are "Joe The Lion", "Golden Years" and "Red Sails". I'm not sure I'm right, but I think "Joe The Lion" is a bit longer than on the CD. Is that true? Some weird extended version (Sounds the same, but the last jam seems to go on for longer).

Hi JumpingKentFlash, I remember that compilation "Golden Years" from years back.
I think some of the songs were extended versions, so "Joe The Lion" probably did have a longer jam at the end than originally on Heroes. Love that song, by the way. Bowie was really excelling past everyone else in that period!

Bowie's best period is without a doubt from Station To Station to Scary Monsters. I love that stuff. Best thing on that whole period is the instrumental songs on Heroes. Moss Garten, Neuköln, Sense Of Doubt. Christ it's good.

a new album for 2007 would be great and very welcome.
- i just hope, that it's not too similar in style and production, to ABB.

Jagger needs to get on the phone to Rick Rubin, sort out their differences and record a stripped-down, bluesy/rootsy (unplugged?) set of songs.
- it would be sensational.
If his stubborn pride won't let him approach Rubin-
can someone get him the phone number of either Ethan Johns
or Jack White, please?

I would settle for unreleased tracks from Steel Wheels.

I hope there is more material still around other than what we heard recently. That was very, very good stuff. "Ready Yourself", Keith's version of "Almost Hear You Sigh"..........

lol - seriously though dude, Jack's a genius -he did a great job producing Loretta Lynn..he'd be a great producer for The Stones.
The type of album i mention, is my #1 Stones "want"
(apart from a "chat" with either of Keith's twins..T or A- i'm not fussy).

I say they have had their last Rock an ballad album with ABB.

What they should do now is a blues and country album. Maybe some guests. I think that will be a great finishing album...

Put me proudly in the imbecile category, then. There is no way they are going to get back into the studio within a few weeks of coming off the road at the end of November and crank out an album of new songs in time for a European tour in May or June. And theyre certainly not going to be motivated to record a new album and then release it later in the year at a time when they wont be on the road.

What Keith says is hot air and bluster. You can count the number of released songs he has written in the last decade on one hand. Its all very well him talking about putting an album out when its quite evident that in terms of songwriting his output has been a fraction of Mick's since "Bridges". Mick's response to his quote is the most significant comment of all.

youd seriously be content with them putting out 18 year old unfinished leftovers as a 'new' album?

Aside from the fact it'll never happen, Rick will probably be too busy with his production work on the next album by a certain 4-piece combo from Dublin whose very name seems to upset so many sensitive souls on this board.

And we cant have OUR 'boys' copying THEM, can we? smiling smiley

Apparently Rubin's out of the picture with You Poo. They weren't happy with the results and are going back to the drawing board with another producer for their new album. This happened with Vitiligo, which was initially produced by Chris Price because they wanted an edgier/Pistols type sound, but then Bozo decided he wanted to make a typical You Poo album, so they brought in the kitchen sink.

Two of the Rubin songs will be bonus cuts on a new "best of You Poo" due out early next year, but the sessions have been scrapped.

Tattoo You anyone? The last great Stones album to date.

I reckon their new live album might have a couple of studio tracks on it. Or not.

the songs from Tattoo You were neither as old as that nor where they put out in the unfinished form from earlier sessions that 1cdog is referring to.

I disagree, Undercover, VooDoo and Bang are all just as strong... or at least VERY NEAR as strong

also almost EVERY Stones album has songs I usually skip. If there are more than 2 skipped songs it is not a GREAT Stones album. of course, every Stones album is pretty darn good. (Satanic and Dirty Work even have a few good tunes)

it is to note that the skipped songs are usually the warhorses/hits on the records and are really only skipped because of I have heard them more times then I can count... in RARE cases its because I don't like the song.

As far as the actual topic of this thread,

I would like to see a new Winos album and tour in the next year or two

Then the boys should do a new album and tour in 2012 to celebrate 50 years as the ROLLING STONES

Waiting for the second Twickenham show I read in a british radio magazine, about the Glasgow concert, and there were also a short interview with Mick. He said he wrote some songs when Keith was at hospital.

Mick still has a lot of drive to write songs. I'm not so convinced that Keith has - based on their respective output over the last few songs. After spending all year on the road, I just cant see them being motivated to rush into a studio in early 2007 to quickly record songs for another album that will sell poorly and which they arent interested in playing live.

Unless they do a 'Tattoo you' type release, but I'd be amazed if Mick can be bothered spending a few months putting that together and working on overdubs etc.

I'd be much more excited to hear new material rather than a hotch-potch songlist from previous recording sessions. Don't get me wrong I'd also like the latter. But, let's face it, their back catalogue, including all those hidden gems, will be released on compilations after they call it a day. We'll all be blowing our pensions on rare and unreleased Stones material, so I can wait for that. l want to hear the new stuff. Want them to take risks. Want them to defy what we think they should be doing. Want them to do the best they can.

I can't see a new album in 2007, no way.
