Their plans for 2007, after Mick's statement?
Posted by: stickydion ()

From IORR news:
"While the tour may continue next year, Mick says he does not want “to spend the whole year doing shows.” Keith says there “quite probably” could be a new album next year, but that was news to Mick."

Mmmm,,,Mick says he does not want “to spend the whole year doing shows.”

What exactly does this mean, in your opinion?

(a) Only european shows, in the summer? How many?
(b) Concerts only in South America and -perhaps- Asia, during the first months of the 2007?
(c) Not even Mick has particular plans?

BV, what do you think?

its quite simple. They wont be on the road ALL year as they were in 2006. I dont think anyone expects them to be

It'll be Europe and probably nowhere else.

I think they should take almost six months off from Nov 22 - May 1 and then tour from May 1- Aug 31.

Then do US in Sept 1, 2008 and Europe Summer 2009.....

In the words of the Stones - This could be the last time.
In the words of the Beatles - It's getting very near the end.

"I think they should take almost six months off from Nov 22 - May 1 and then tour from May 1- Aug 31."

It sounds very logical, georgeV. I just had "secret hopes" for a few, very few, gigs in South America. Before a long break of 5 months and after a short break of one month (December). I had dreams for Buenos Aires, but YCAGWYW...

Well I hope Asia! They are still rumored to play Bangkok, which would be a blast!

I think there will be shows in South America and Asia the first months of the 2007...he dont want to tour all the year like 2006...

I think they are well due six months off without us thinking this is the end.
I am reminded of the show "Being Mick" where he talks about his friends who ask him what he has been up to. His response is something like "you remember that show you went to last year, I am still doing it". While living in first class hotels can't be that bad, at sometime everybody just wants to kick back and do nothing. We all know that talk of a new album in 2007 is ridiculous. I would say 2008 at the soonest.

They will surely deserve six months off after this leg of the tour. The real question is, how much time will they take off after the tour if finally over next year? A year? Two years?

I don't think that a new album in 2007 is out of the question. It makes sense that if they were to tour in 2007, they would want a new album to promote. Also if they were to release a "Tatoo You" style album of unreleased material, it wouldn't take too much effort on the band's part to compile the album and mix it.

It's the usual Mick n Keith conflict, isn't it? Jagger wants to slow things down and Keith wants to keep on working. Jagger didn't want to do another Stones album "so soon" after Voodoo Lounge, but Keith pressured him into going into the studio to cut Bridges to Babylon, which appeared "a mere" three years after Voodoo. They then didn't release another album for eight years.

Why would they take 6 months off, keep staff on pay, then come back and disrupt their lives with another leg of the tour ??

Just my opinion, of course, but I'm guessing they'll keep this tour going into 2007 for as long as it takes to hit any remaining destinations...

Then pack it in for at least 2-3 years.

Why would they continue to just tour-and-tour to repeat destinations when the ticket sales are already slumping so bad that every venue has a "fourpack" deal for 199 ???
