You could look it at that way.

Another could be that going by the audience at RCMH and the first Beacon show, it seems to be the one where theres more people than anywhere else able to pay thousands for a charity fundraiser with the Stones as the evening cabaret.

The average prices you had to pay for the NYC shows this tour compared to other cities says as much about how the Stones were content to exploit a relatively wealthy market than it does about anything else IMO.

Couldn't agree with you more, Gazza.

To me, one of the greatest things about The Rolling Stones is that they continue to be revered around the world.

Seems a little cruel to single out any one city as their "capital," when income and cash flow have so much to do with it in these nutty days.

And the UK always matters to the Stones personally.

Question - other than checking here for other posters to tell us when they go on sale, what's the best way to find out this as it happens? Go on to RS.com (they still haven't even posted the story about the ticket prices), or ticketwhoremaster? If they do a bracelet thing, I don't know how Ticketmaster is involved.

And my boss know even if need be I may be AWOL for a Beacon show.

He knew who I was when he hired me since I delayed starting the job while doing Porto thru Glasgow.

I'll wait till the week of the show and see if the do a 4 for $99 deal w/ t-shirts.

TM was involved with all the Licks theater shows, bracelets and all....

the title of this post is misleading!

I understood that $35-50 was the cost to see both shows, now I understand it's that much for each show. What a rip off.

Now I have to decide whether it's worth going for the better seats.

What's a poor boy to do?

You would like to think so huh.

I just came up with a brilliant idea!
A raffle among fan club members would be fair. One ticket each. And if you've been a member for one year, your name is registered once in the PC. A member for two years, your name's in there twice etc. This is fair - I think. And it would exclude people who are not serious fans from getting tickets.
To prevent scalping, they must print names on the tickets - and each concert-goer would have to identyfy HERSELF with a photo ID.

What do you think - Mick and Michael? Good idea - isn't it?!

Some tickets to the first of two Rolling Stones concerts at the Beacon Theater in Manhattan this month have been made available to the Clinton Foundation, which is planning a weekend celebration of President Clinton’s 60th birthday, the foundation said. Fran Curtis, a spokeswoman for the band, said the tickets to the concert, on Oct. 29, were “certainly not all of the house,” but “not 30 seats” either. (The band is also playing the Beacon on Oct. 31.) The Washington Post has reported that some 2,100 invitations to the celebration were to go out, with packages starting at $60,000; those who pledge $500,000 or more would receive the “Birthday Chair Package,” including a “Backstage Pass” dinner, a photo with Mr. Clinton and preferred seating at the concert. Ms. Curtis said the concert was not a private event and that the list prices for tickets would be $35 and $50, though they have not yet gone on sale. Mr. Clinton’s birthday was on Aug. 19, but he has being using the occasion for extended fund-raising efforts.

I didn't receive an invitation from Bill... Could it be because I hate cigars? Guess I just have to trust The Stones to find a system to get the tickets out to the real fans - not to the CEOs and guests who sit passively drinking beer in their silly pink shirts on every freakin' show I've been to in arenas in the US. Particularly in the Madison Square Garden.
What they probably should consider is to have a raffle among the members of the official fan club. The longer one's been a member, the bigger chance of getting a ticket. One year: One chance in the raffle. Two years, - your name's twice in the computer - and so on.
And only one ticket per person. And photo ID needed when picking up one's wristband. This way, scalpers can just forget about doing business, and the Stones will have a nice, friendly enthusiastic crowd of true fans and SETLIST WHINERS in the theatre...
