i know leon russell did a cover of jumping jack flash at the concert for bangladesh, but i am trying to track down a blue grass version of JJF that i heard him do with the new grass revival. i can only seem to find a DVD that contains this cover. do any of you have an mp3 of this track floating around? i tried the hot stuff section but had no luck, thought i'd try here.
I saw Leon Russell in concert, in Chicago, a few days after the Bangladesh benefit. He opened with Wild Horses (solo on his Steinway grand) and closed with Jumpin Jack flash. A good recording from that tour would be awesome. (Claudia Linnear was on vocals as well.)
The DCC gold edition of Leon's self titled album carries as a bonus track the early take of (Can't Seem To) Get A Line On You...later known as Shine A Light..
A Song for You. What an amazing ballad. I'm glad the Carpenters covered this (and Superstar as well). Probably made Leon a lot in royalties over the years.
i have been finding many of the versions of JJF that leon seems to have done over the years, but cant seem to find the bluegrass version. have any of your heard it? sounds nothing like JJF except for the lyrics, very interesting vocal phrasing and chord changes etc,
