the Stones started their first British tour supporting Bo Diddley and the Everley Brothers.

I've read that, with poor ticket sales, Little Richard was added sometime on the tour.

As ticket sales are generally less than fantastic for the present tour, perhaps an approach to these same artists to help out once again may be useful?

It's great that everyone on that tour (minus Brian and Stu) are still alive...

I don't think it would sell more tickets, but it would create some media attention.

Another unstated benefit would be the one that Simon and Garfunkel had a couple years ago when the brought the Everlys on their tour:

"Hey... you think WE'RE old?? Look at THESE guys!!"

I personally would walk many miles for a concert featuring BD,EBs,LR and the Rolling Stones.

Nice bit of trivia....made me glad on a most depressing day.

Thanks,

"ticket sales less than fantastic" ???

At all the concerts I've been to and heard of I didn't see any empty seats anywhere... also what band sells more than the Stones??
I don't know why people are often knocking the band - obviously not true fans who would be happy to see them live anywhere...

"till the next time..."

by 'less than fantastic' I meant something like 'not immediate sell outs'.

I'm not knocking the band themselves, but I could be critical of the organisation surrounding them, though that wasn't the reason for the original posting.

In the New York area we have plenty of Stones fans but no real rock radio to support the Stones like in the old days. You'd think they only released 5 songs in the last 40 years.

My sister and her boyfriend (now her husband) saw that tour at the Liverpool Empire, and bumped into (literally) Brian Jones in a side street as he was about to enter the stage door. He was, by all accounts, extremely polite.

She doesn't remember that much about their performance, apart from their "raw sound" as she was too much looking forward to seeing Don and Phil.
