Hi...another trivial list. This one lists the states in the US in which the Rolling Stones have never played as a group after the current (Fall 2006) US leg of Bigger Bang is over.

1. Maine
2. New Hampshire
3. Vermont
4. Mississippi
5. West Virginia
6. Wyoming
7. South Dakota
8. Alaska

They should play the Buffalo Chip in Sturgis, SD. It could be like Altamont only with more bikes and less hippies.

So, to make up for it, the band will play small clubs in each of these states.

It'll be called the "Undiscovered Country" tour. LOL.

Oh, well, at least West Virginia WAS mentioned in one Stones song -- we all know what that one is, now don't we?

Oh thanks Gazza I was not aware of that.

And whats the story about the '72 arrest? I've never heard of that either...do tell

The Stones were at an airport at Warwick, RI en route to their show at the Boston Garden on 18th July when a photographer kept plaguing them so much for photos that Keith whacked him. Mick's protests got him arrested as well, and three of their entourage/security people were carted off too.

They were all thrown in the local jail, but after a bit of negotiation, released and made it to the venue some five hours late. On a night where there were riots across Boston, miraculously the fans didnt tear the place apart, thanks mainly to a bit of showmanship from the local mayor who announced to the crowd that the band were in jail, he'd got them released and that as a gesture from the fans he was asking them to behave if he took some of the on duty police from the garden to other parts of the city where they were urgently needed.

The story is told in riveting fashion in Bob Greenfield's "STP : Journey through america with the Rolling Stones" book on the '72 tour

If redrum edits the original post, adding Delaware, is that the correct list? 9 states?
