Now you're talking, bartman.

Ramblin' Man - Luke the Drifter
Glad To let Her Go
The Last Town I Painted
Things Have Gone To Pieces - George Jones
I Can't Keep My Hands Off Of You
The Last Letter
Old Five & Dimers Like Me - Waylon Jennings
Drifting Texas Sand - Webb Pierce
I Never Go Around Mirrors - Merle Haggard
You're Running Wild - The Louvin Bros.
Waltz Across Texas - Ernest Tubb
The Last Thing I Needed (First Thing This Morning)-Willie

Plus a million other songs by Merle, Waylon, Pierce & The Possum
As for my favorite? It's about a 100-way tie - every goddamned song Hank Williams ever wrote.

Tough Question...

But whatever it is, it's probably on the "Honky Tonk Heroes" Album by Waylon Jennings and Billy Joe Shaver, country's very greatest CD.

At the end of the day I have to choose the first song that came to my mind to begin with.... "We Had it All"... talk about a song that just rips your heart to shreds...

Other -

"If That Ain't Country" David Allan Coe
"Someday" & "Guitar Town" Steve Earle
"Outlaw Women" Hank, Jr.
"Curtis Loew" Lynyrd Skynyrd
"Georgia On A Fast Train" Billy Joe Shaver

Like cosmoprim said - many by the usual suspects - George, Merle, Hank, Sr., etc...

Tough call between
A Country Boy Can Survive - Hank Williams Jr. and
The Devil Went Down to Georgia - Charlie Daniels

I once saw the latter performed in a bar by a heavy metal cover band with an wicked electric guitar solo in place of the fiddle. That was funny as hell. What could be more metal than a song about the devil?

Lyrics for Song: She Thinks I Still Care - George Jones

Just because I ask a friend about her
Just because I spoke her name somewhere
Just because I rang her number by mistake today
She thinks I still care

Just because I haunt the same old places
Where the mem'ry of her lingers ev'rywhere
Just because I'm not the happy guy I used to be
She thinks I still care

But if she's happy thinkin' I still need her
Then let that silly notion bring her cheer
But how could she ever be so foolish
Oh where would she get such an idea

Just because I ask a friend about her
And just because I spoke her name somewhere
Just because I saw her then went all to pieces
She thinks I still care
She thinks I still care
