Posted by: barking paul ()

I'm going to Las Vegas from London.

Anyone else going to U.S. dates from Europe?

Did it in 99, 02, 05
Shorter shows, same tour, mostly stadiums, a lot of reasons making me wait for 2007

Did it in 94 and 97

Did it in '99 (Hartford), '02 (NYC and LA) and '06 (NYC). Always an enjoyable experience but the prices just cant justify it anymore. Plus my finances and leave from work are screwed for this year!

Savin' my dough for a few carefully chosen 'commando raids' into Europe next summer!

Shit, man..dont give me ideas. Far from it. We accept no advertising or ask anything for its upkeep. We pay for the webspace ourselves.

It's

Only in case of arena show + club gig. Not worth it anymore for me. 450 eur for good seats? Nah!

A question for the Europeans...I've heard all non American Citizens (even from Visa Waver countries) entering the USA now for tourist or business reasons have to be fingerprinted and also photographed. Is this true?

Yes, that was already the case in january (Chicago). A friend of mine (long hair) had to answer questions three or four times to different people. Obviously it is not enough if you have cash, a passport and a hotelreservation. They want to know everything... After a few visits to the USA, he has had it now with the US.

Really ? This wasn't the case last September (2005), wonder if this is new legislation ?

Quite rightly so too !

Yes - non-US citizens have had to be photographed and fingerprinted on entry to the US since January 2004. As far as I know, only holders of diplomatic visas are excluded from this requirement.

I'm pretty sure I was fingerprinted when going through US immigration control at Dublin airport en route to NYC in January (regardless of the fact that, as a UK citizen, I dont need a visa). It was pretty insignificant and I'd forgotten about it until now. Cant remember about being photographed, but its probable. You get photographed when passing through the terminal at Uk airports too, such as Gatwick. Probably Heathrow too.

Not probable - definite! It's not when passing thru the terminal either but at the same time as being fingerprinted when at the immigration desk - the photo's taken by something resembling a webcam.

I went to Miami last september and was fingerprinted and had the photo taken. I cant't remember if the same thing was done in San Francisco in November, i think it was. As a result of this, it took almost an hour to get thru the airport in miami. A pain in the ass but totally understandable and I dont have a problem with it.

One month today, off to the USA!

Hmm, an hour you say ? Well I'd better go through on my U.S. passport then, might be quicker. I'll be a waitin' for ya by the baggage conveyor, drummin' my fingers impatiently on the cases and goin' "what kept ya" ????

But on the plus side ......... there might be an opportunity to buy a cherry red flavoured ice cream while I'm a dawdlin'. Then again ... maybe not. Sigh !
