Thanks for posting the SWAY link! Nice that the RS revived that classic tune and have added it to the setlist for this leg of ABB!

RONNIE does a great job, and it's not a duplicate copy the MICK TAYLOR riffs on the original, but RONNIE rocks it out in his style. SWAY seems to have morphed from the old favorite, but they are both good versions of a great song. Hope they keep playin it!

IMO.

Thanks. Love Sway in its original version, but this is pretty impressive too. Great Loving Cup (almost) live on youtube at present, but why oh why did Moonlight Mile get taken off sad smiley

Also think it's the best live version I have heard so far. Go Ronnie go!

Hey, that was very good! Maybe even better than the Glasgow version (even though that one starts with the whole band as I prefer). I think they are enjoying playing the song more and more and I hope it stays on the set list for a long time so that it ends up in a live album from this tour, if they put one out. I sure would love that. Mick's vocals and Ronnie's solos are getting better and better. Both more soulful like the studio version. Awesome!

The only real drawback I feel with all of the live versions is Jagger's use of "there must be ways to find out" as opposed to those fantastic "hey"s and "love is the way, they say is real" That to me does take some of the intensity away. I've come to expect his change of phrasing now with anything they do now.

Ronnie is soling fine on the live versions. Taylor's solo is indeed great, but not the be all and end all as so moany like to claim whenever Taylor touches guitar strings with his fingers. And the strings on the studio version certainly help that whole intensity climb.

Now the B-side version - THAT'S raw!

if mick could even come close to the original vocal this bang version would be ten times better, he has to scream more, 80 percent of the original is mick screaming that great vocal with passion, this bang version is good and i would take it over a warhorse anyday, but it is just a shadow of what it could be if mick would just try harder

Love this shTTT!! Great version of Sway!

Did you hear the guy at the end say, "They're gonna jam now!"

That was a jam session (Sway) in my opinion.

Hope I get this tune in the Ville! Please play Sway! And Under My Thumb, Live With Me, MR, CYHMK, T&A, YGTS, Dead Flowers, Monkey Man, etc....

Sway in Boston rocked hard.
Playing live gives you the freedom to change up a bit.I also love the studio version but those days are gone, the album is in Stone for all to have, but that version in Boston kicked some serious ass.Ronnie kicked out the jams and Keith has found his way on the song.

well i started a thread some days ago [www.iorr.org]

i am with liddas on this one (a part from the chicks that can't rock 'n' roll, there's plenty of rocking girls out there, take a listen to sleater kinney or breeders or donnas)

there's this particular treatment that sway is being given here,
no one compares paint it black or start me up or whatever to the "Original" on the record, but Sway...

for what matter: everyone drools on mick taylor solos - that are of course "perfect" in and for themseleves - as what "make" the song and make the difference with the one played live today by ronnie. No one speak of the strings that give the song its "something different" on record - imho.

question to the taylor diehards here: did he ever make a bad solo or perform a good one badly?

olson's version is awful IMHO
escovedo's is miles better, imho

i think ronnie is doing a good job in that clip, but moreover is the whole band that rocks pretty good in that one
