Or can Warhorses ..only be loud??ha ha...I just wanna say I love the song..I know its not too popular in the hardcore section...that Angie ..everywhere I look..I see..rather romantic.indeed..you know I fuc-ing love Goat Heads !!And Angie...Is it a warwoman? Do you still like it..ever liked it..never liked it..again I coulnt believe it!!

I go back and forth with that song. Some times I totally get into it, then other times, I skip right over it.

Me and my first wife song, when she passed away l had the Reverend read the lines from that song"all the dreams we had, seem to have gone up in smoke".
Along with Wild Horses my favorite slow Stones song.

And that Brussels 73 version (of course other ones from 73 too)....where Taylor and his guitar filled the concert hall with fluid vibrato dreams.

Yeah, nice ballad. But take, for example, Memory Motel, that almost makes me cry!! Or Love In Vain.. Wild Horses.. all are better then Angie in my opinion.

Like Wolfgang Doebling (German Rolling Stone author and Stones-pope) said in August 2005: Some people are too cool for Angie. And anybody who does not like it is simply that: too cool.

ROPENI - that is very very sad. I'm sorry.
You said first wife, so I assume there is a second. I'm glad you have been able to move forward. Still sad though.

I think(feel) the way Jagger sings it is even better than in the 70ties....Paris 1990...The crowd clapping slowly...sometimes I think its the second most known Stones tune..there is (after Satisfaction)I mean more people knows Angie.than JJF...I mean folks who dont care at all...well they might care about..robbie...or Phill....Disposable..ahhh...but Angie well..its so intense...About Memory Motel...a fav of mine ..loved the 94 version so much..but..the 98 version...was not so very good..the99 version to fast and very bad!!Without emotion(My view) the studio ...is no words yeah better tan angie..but this thread is about Angie...how many cover versions are there?Womack&Womack I know...anygood versions around?

I agree with StonesTod, nothing can compeat with the Taylor years' Angie.
75/76 is good, and 82 too, but they can't match 73.

MT's soaring solo, Billy's fabulous organ and KR's great electric accents just make all versions since pale by comparison....

Like the redoutable StonesTod and Mr. Snow, I much prefer the live '73 versions. I did not like the studio version much as the string arrangement didn't work for me.

I hated this song when it first came out. I was a teenager and I thought it was embarassing that the Stones would do this.
But it grew on me and I almost always am glad to hear. Good tune, good lyrics, nice vocals. A very pretty love song. I agree they have other ballads that are as good or better, but Angie is stll a winner

On a good night "Angie" can be magic but ain't "Love in Vain" truly quintessential Stones?

Love the 73 version a lot more than the 75 version...the 82 Italy version is very cool!!

One of the best songs ever written.

It's also a great example of how unique Stones love songs are. They may write about women, but not in the sappy "i love you so much" "you mean everything to me" style of most.

They may be about love but from a different, sometimes more realistic point of view.

Never got tired of it, still play it on my acoustic regularly. And everyone (at least every man) can relate to the lyrics. I know i've felt that way about exes.

And it's not a warhorse. Well known yes, but not played nearly enough for that title.

I cant believe its about Keiths daughter...Its about a real love..gone to pieces but still alive it seems.
