Biggest Mistake debuted at #51 in the UK singles chart, the same position of Out Of Control, third UK single from B2B. The new single started at #31 on monday sales and lost 20 places during the week.
On albums chart, 40 Licks is Top 20 again, it went from 25-19 with great sales. The 40 Licks tour lasted 4 years now...
There were also posters outside the stadium advertising the new single. Would have been very great if they played that. Better than Bitch and Live with me IMO
Indeed Laugh I nearly died is my favorite but we were talking about their new single. If I knew they would play Laugh, I nearly died in Horsens, I would consider going there.

Each to their own. Personally, I love it but our individual personal taste isnt the issue. Theres absolutely no point in releasing singles if you're not going to bother promoting them in ANY way at all - and they had a great opportunity to do so.
The song reached #51 despite the Stones not bothering to make people aware of it, not because of them. Generally when the Stones tour Europe, even though their latest album has been out for about a year, theres enough momentum to get a respectable chart entry for their latest single due to the publicity and extra airplay that they get to coincide with their visit.

All the effort is on the 40 Licks album, almost 4 consecutive months in the chart including several weeks on the top 20 and almost a top 10 re-entry some weeks ago. Anyway I can understand the public music taste, nothing on ABB or the new single could touch the great songs on 40 Licks, the album is selling 8-12k each week for months and the new single barely moved 2000-2500 copies.
I think it's one of the better songs on the album. It would have been nice to have a third top forty hit off ABB but two top forties and three top 75 hits for a band that has been around as long as the Stones isn't too shabby.
The Stones were never a "singles machine" and don't spend as much time promoting singles as other artists. They also seem to be lost when it comes to which songs to release as singles. Great songs like "Under My Thumb" and "Time Waits For No One" were never released as singles. For Voodoo Lounge they released "I Go Wild" instead of the better "Blinded By Rainbows". Not to mention "Let It Bleed", "Sympathy.." and "Gimme Shelter" were never released.
If they were more interested in promoting and releasing more singles they would have even better chart success. The fact that they have as much chart success as they do despite the fact they were never a straight top forty band is a testament to their music.
Right, HArm, but why even bother to release any singles? They could have saved the energy and money. No promo activities whatsoever, it's not even played live! What was the last time they were on tour and didn't bother to play their latest single?

Biggest Mistake was released in counted European countries, not in US: Italy (#27) England (#51) Netherlands (#77) Germany (#94)

It never happened, they always performed their latest single on tours. SOL wasn't played until July but it was a double A side with RJ. It's their first commercial single without video since the live version of Time Is On My Side in September 1982 which got the #62 in the UK charts.
I would love it if they had one more Top 10 hit but Virgin seem incapable of manipulating one from them. The videos for their singles always come out way after the single has been released and I can't understand how they must have agreed to release it and then do nothing with it. Bizarre.
