This may be a stupid question about bringing cameras in, but...
Date: August 21, 2006 19:54

The last few Stones shows I have been to, I had no problem bringing my digital camera in. But that was becase I was always on either the first or second ring. Now I am going to the Soldier Field show, but it is my first time on the floor, right in front of the B-Stage. That is so close, and I would like to take pictures, but I am afraid it could be to close. What would you do? And another thing...can disposable cameras be detected by the metal detectors? Is being right close to the B-Stage and taking pictures (not to many mind you) a bad move?

"She's got a mind of her own, yeah, and she use it mighty fine..."

I go through this hassle EVERY SINGLE TIME and I have a great floor seat for the opener at Foxboro! I have a Nikon digital and a regular Olympus 35mm which I usually manage to get it but at a huge cost! My SANITY! I am usually frightened out of my mind that the guards will find it in my purse and then once I get it in, taking photos is always tricky. I just called Gillette Stadium and they said it is not the guards at the stadium that CARE, it's the Stones guards that are the BAD GUYS! The band wants no close photos with good cameras! At Gillette it is even worse because for us ladies that carry purses, the MEASURE the size and length of each purse, can you believe that?? I know because the last time I saw the Stones there, Sept 2002, I had to go to 5 turnstiles before I found a lenient guard! My bag was 3 inches too long and they told me I had to take it back to my car! EXCUSE ME! The car was 2 miles away! They couldn't have cared less! I NEED to carry contact lens solution and glasses and binoculars and certain pills etc so I need to have a real pocket book, not a tiny lipstick holder! Good luck, you may decide not to even try to smuggle the camera in; that's about where I am now. It's bad enough getting my purse in without the rest of the hassles. It used to be a thrill smuggling it in, now it's gotten so much harder since 911 that it's a pure pain in the ass!

Boston 2006

What the feck is it in the US that they take your camera away and dont return it to you at the end of the concert ???.

I dont get it ???.

The rest of the planet gives you a ticket and you can collect it after the show.

Ok there will most likely be nothing on it but you do get it back.

I have taken my digital into shows in Boston (Fenway),
Chicago (Soldier Field and United Center) and SF (SBC Park) and have had no problems at all.

Could you really be bothered waiting in a line at the end of the show for an item worth $ 10.00 ?

I wouldn't or couldn't be that petty

If you look at the Twickenham 1 I took a camera in and took some decent shots. I was A5 row 13. (Charlie source of a Bigger Bang and The stage shot)

I was standing on my seat as the B stage came back taking a shot and the security guy told me to stand down and wasn't bothered about my camera.

I used a Fuji finepix F10.

£250 in our case is not petty and so yes I am standing in line or my partner did and I hung about waiting for ages.
But not throwing that kind of money away.
I may be mad but I am not crazy.

In the weeks before the show, you should eat a bunch of fiber to stay regular. Clear your bowels three hours before the show, and mix muscle relaxant into your pre-show meal. This will cause the muscles surrounding the anus to loosen. With a friend, apply lubricant to said area. Have the friend then insert the camera up your anal cavity (with a glove, of course).*

That's how you get the camera in. In terms of getting it out, well, you're on your own.

Ok,this is how stupid things really get.

After posting a similar thread before Twickenham,I decided not to take the camera as I was in Block A row 2.

My mate decided not to risk it also.

As expected,we were frisked on the way in & bags were searched.

When I posted on same subject I was told that it was the Stones security to watch out for.

Well, not last night - it seemed nearly everyone had a camera, were taking shots all through the show - with security not blinkin an eye.

In fact, people were actually gettin the security guys to take family pictures for them.

So,sod it - think I'm takin the camera to Sheffield.

Guess I am just not lucky because in Albany a guard screamed at me to put my camera away or he'd take it and I was so close I wanted to puke because I lost so many great photos! What does it matter to them? I was told it's the STONES who care! If I could fit the camera somewhere in some body cavity I WOULD DO IT! As it is, I'll have to stick film in my underwear to be retrieved once inside! Oh, In Albany I managed to take out my camera for the finale and got great pix.

I dont know about that I have seen stadium security tell people to get down off others shoulders and also stop people taking pics.

It was the stones security who intervened and said cool it let them be.

You should have seen the confused look on the stadium guys faces.

Obviously they are not all exactly geared up as to what should be happening at any given time and a lot of them look like kids well late teens & by the look on their faces they aint seen anything like it.

One girl looked like she was going to wet her pants when the B stage started towards her she definately had not been warned exactly what was going to happen.
Also said she was surprised but enjoying the show though they were supposed to be watching the crowd.
