A Massive Terrorist Attack to blow up 10 planes flying over the Atlantic Ocean between the UK and USA has been stopped by UK authorities in what seems like, the 11th hour. Hundreds of flights have been canceled all over Europe/Israel and to a lesser degree, worldwide. UK airports are a giant mess and it will take days for things to get back to normal. British Terror level has been raised to CRITICAL (#5) - the highest level possible. The US has raised the level to Orange.This is being called the biggest terrorist attempt since the successful one on 9/11/2001 If you are flying to Europe for a Stones Concert from ANYWHERE (or from the UK south to Portugal or Spain best to check with the airlines. Looks like I JUST got back from Nice in time. LOL Flying to London and Glasgow over the next couple of weeks was supposed to be a piece of cake as I was just bringin' hand luggage. Now its a major hassle for everyone. Better safe than sorry, though.

I guess the terrorists reach a goal even by causing such a mess. thankfully no lives have been lost. on a personal level this is exactly why I fear flying these days, not the bombs, but getting stuck in some airport terminal. I'll be flying to Germany later in autumn, and right now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed this won't start a trend. @#$%& all the @#$%& in the WHOLE world that don't find anything better to do with their lives but to cause misery.

My OH said before we went to Adam I bet they try something this Summer.

We are lucky as returned home early due to work commitments,normally we fly back from our Hols on the 9th to 12th Aug.

I am just glad they got drift of what was happening and no one is hurt this time.

Beast if I was you I would start looking at the Train or Bus to get to Porto as last time were the Airports not all closed for 2/3 days ??.

They will also have to clear the backlog of people stranded & waiting for flights 1st.

Good one Adrian-L. Ah yes, with Hull's finest in charge ............. we can all rest easy now ! God almighty, when is the country going to come to its senses and do the decent thing, which would be to strap Prescott to the nose cone of the space shuttle and send him into orbit ? I'll volunteer to put the first roll of duck tape around his fat gob !

If somebody had asked me my opinion a year or two ago I probably would have said the same thing. I guess I've changed a lot in the past few years because this philosophy just doesn't do it for me anymore. It's too, well, liberal (and it pains me to say that as a proud Democrat).

We'd all be innocent of all of our wrongdoings if everybody lived by this philosophy. I think it's about time both sides admit to their mistakes and take responsibility.

This the most pathetic post I have ever seen. Only cowards blame victims and feel that appeasement will stop terrorism. The terrorists want to kill us because we are a free society with freedom of religion, women's rights, democracy etc.

brilliant - blame Bush and Blair for everything. Blame them for Sept 11; blame them for the Cole; blame them for World war 1; but be VERY careful about blaming the real terrorist for anything at all. Because, of course, you always capitulate to the terrorist (see Spain elections 2 years ago; see the Franch weasel government; see the UK who had incredibly lax rules re: foreigners (i.e., overrun by Arans) and now are suffering for that.
