Rockman,

I second that.... I like Ramblin Jack's "Connection" too quite a bit. I originally said Ike and Tina and "Honky Tonk Women". Certainly no one can argue with the Burritos doing "Wild Horses". That's my all-time favourite. I think Ramblin Jack follows right underneath that one.

I would love to hear Billy Bragg doing "She smile sweetly". I stopped listening to him after "Great Leap Forward" in 1990 but I still like him.

I admit that after listening to the Soundgarden version of Stray Cat Blues, I would like to name it as one of the best Stones covers I've ever heard.

Maybe I'm weird, but that bluegrass version of JJ Flash by that dude with long grey hair (What's his name?)...

And also some versions on the two Shidoobee CDs "Street Fighting Fans" are very good. Loving cup, Tumbling Dice and Don't Stop are good there.

Tumbling Dice by Johnny Copeland
Out of Time by Chris Farlowe
Take It or Leave It by Randy Weeks
Satisfaction by Otis Redding
Gimme Shelter by the X-Pensive Winos.....WHAT?????
There is a version that they did on some New Year's Thing in '93, it is amazing.
Take It Or Leave It by the Searchers
Let's Spend The Night Together by Joe Simon, it's pretty wild.

BS & ESB performed this on many shows on the arena leg of the BIUSA tour. I always liked how he changed the line in the chorus "...in this sleepy US town...".
