Queen have a lot of rubbish, but they ALSO have some brilliant songs, and Freddie was a terrific performer. Nobody who has listened to more than a few bad Queen-songs, can say that they stink.
Tie Your Mother Down is a prime example of great Queen....and Under Pressure.
But, I only like some of their work...but still...

There are countless bands worse than The Who.

Gotta disagree there rooster. I don't like all their songs, but they still have some good ones IMO. Worst band ever - I'm thinking maybe Styx, REO Speedwagon, Dexy's Midnight Runners (remember them? lol) and a lot of the bands of today like Limp Bizkit (oh how I loathe them!!), Korn, Slipknot, etc, etc. Just my opinion. smiling smiley

Yes, that's what me too, find to be a bit silly about them.

Yes, Freddie had a great charisma, on stage, at least. Perhaps he wasn't the best guy in his free time though. Remember the Live Aid performance? That's really great, the way he own the whole arena...I've seen a great video on youtube of Under Pressure, where they have put together a Bowie performance with the rest of Queen, after Freddie had died + Queen's performance of Under Pressure from Live Aid. It's very well done, so it looks like they're performing it together....they have used a studio version remix as soundtrack. It's still there, if you search for that song on youtube.

1) We musn't forget James Brown, who is awful, and also most jazz. I can't stand the pretentiousness of people who claim they like jazz. I like a beginning, a middle and an end.

2) All rap is crap.

3) Yoko Ono sounds like a coyote getting his jugalr vein sliced.

beast of burden:

you are like everyone else who claims they hate ABBA. if you were driving down the road and Momma Mia came on you'd blast the music, but wouldn't tell anyone.

Same with Michael Jackson. Nobody admits liking him but Thriller sold a Gazillion copies.

love gillan and have a lot of solo stuff by him. remember though he wasn't the original singer for deep purple though it was i think rod evans or something close to that. the guy who sings the purple song hush. anyways when gillan left coverdale AND glenn hughes sang lead as well as hughes playing bass. hughes is a way better singer than coverdale and i think slightly better than gillan as after turning about 45 gillans voice went down hill while hughes is in his 50's and sounds fantastic.

oh ok. good stuff by gillan is hard to get in the usa. in the uk and europe its easy though. he does some more jazzy stuff solo and some harder rocking stuff later of in the 80's. i have a collection called "mercury high" the best of gillan that has a good mix of the late 70's jazz stuff and 80's rock stuff plus stuff from the album he did in the 80's with deep purple bass player roger glover. also have a cd called "gillans inn" which i rerecorded versions of songs throughtout his career that came out this year. the best part is its duel disc and the dvd side is awesome. he has a few good solo albums called "scarabus" and one called "clear air turbulence" thats jazzy. his hard rocking stuff came out in the early 80's. i remember an album called "glory road" and one called "mr. universe". also i thought the 1983album he did with black sabbath called "born again" was pretty good.
as for glenn hughes he puts out a solo album almost every year. i have both albums he did from i think 2000 and 2002 or 2003 with joe lynn turner of rainbow/deep purple (slaves and masters album)/yngwie malsteen fame called hughes turner project. i have his 2005 solo album and a greatest hits thats two disc that has some live versions of deep purple songs from the mid 90's plus he has about 6 solo cds and it covers all them but his newest and live songs from the hughes/thrall cd he did in 1982 also from the same mid 90's concert and i think one song live from the album that was unrealesed with black sabbath. i also have the 1996 sessions he did with tony iommi of black sabbath thats good. the live version of "burn" and "stormbringer" he does kick hard on that cd.

stonesfrk- you are right when you say that Jacko is a freak, but that doesn't effect the calibre of the music he made 20 years ago.

using your logic, i suppose you don't like chuck berry songs, correct?
