YGMR is not absolutely horrible, it's a good live song.
But Love Is Strong is also popular and should be played more.
When I saw YGMR performed on the B-stage I was quite sad about the fact that they wouldn't play Under My Thumb or Get Off Of My Cloud.

they play YGMR because it's EASY to play.
It's the one song Keith can do stuff-all and get away with it, Ronnie can play slide and not make every note sound like a train wreck....

Even I like "You Got Me Rocking".

Great to see it back!

that's not true

I thought YGMR was really good live on the Voodoo Lounge tour....perhaps just because it was new. But I had no idea they'd coninue doing it for 12 years, it's not worth it.
It's mystery to most of us, just like Silvio with Dylan in late 80s and the 90s. Perhaps the fact that YGMR "steals" 5% of a RS concert, makes me angry.

Same goes for several of the songs on VL, BTB and ABB. It's great that they do them when they're new, but they fall flat after a while.
Now, imagine if they gave us a wild WHere The Boys Go instead.....or Lies....or Torn And Frayed....you name it, the thought of that turns YGMR from a "well...ok"-song, into a unwelcome setlist-space-taker. ALmost a burglar.

I like this song, and i think it sounds great on VL and also no security, and it is a great live song because the crowd like it, and it seems to go down well on the flicks twickenham dvd, but like many people have said, i seem to hear it at EVERY show i go to!

At the moment YGMR is alternating with Paint It Black throughout the current Euro shows.

Don't get me wrong, I do like YGMR but would prefer to hear PIB each time instead of YGMR.

Can never understand why PIB is not considered to be a warhorse in the same vein as Honky Tonk Women or Start Me Up, I think Paint It Black is perenially under-rated.

especially as "PIB" is probably one of the songs most liked and respected by non-fans. Hard to find anyone who is not impressed by it. mick probably thinks it's too "stodgy" or something, but they've arranged it well.

Actually Wednesday's Hannover was the first time YGMR had reared it's butt-ugly head in Europe this tour....but it certainly won't be the last.

I like the live version a lot more than the studio version. I think it sounds good live and its obviously a song they like to play, regardless of the fact that most of the crowd is clueless and the die hards hate it.

Great beat, meaningless rock lyrics (you know before they had to mean anything Mr Zimmerman), great guitar sounds and that riff kick's arse!
It's a classic in my book.

If Mick cut loose and bitch slapped it from here to hell vocally and Keith pulled out a Les Paul, hooked it up to a Marshall stack and fed it thru a Mesa Boogie foot pedal and crunched the ph uck out of a really tight dirty sound - man I could listen to it open and close the same show......

I agree they like to play it because it's easy.

You Got Me Rocking studio version is great and the song holds up live, but after having heard it so many times, it's time to give it a rest. Most of the people who wanna hear it, probably wouldn't mind a song like All Down The Line either.

Easy song to play? I don't know, but musicians like the Stones don't need such an argument: rehearse and any song can be pulled off. Like I Go Wild, Saint Of Me, Out Of Control or even Flip the Switch if hey wanna play a recent Stones song.

The stones love to play You got me rocking, and the crowd loves to hear it (more than all down the line, or rocks off, or another gem), why not to play it?

I think it's a very good song, anf fits well in theatres, arenas or stadiums

Hepp! Agree with Monkey Man. In addition I'd like top mention that I think it's right for the Stones to include at least a number for every period/decade. YGMR is not a bad choice concidering that. OOC could be a better choice, possibly, but still...!
