In an interview in Melody Maker in 1972 lennon sead after he had watched Stones
at a concert "Mick Jagger is one of the Greatest Performer of all time" !!

As late as 1980 in an interview in Rolling Stone he sead "Mick put out consistently good work for about twenty years, and will them give him a break? will they ever say look at him, he's number one, he's thirty-six, and he's put out a beautiful song, "Emotinoal Rescue," it's up there. I enjoyed it, lots of people enjoyed it...........

John Lennon was a complex person.....sometimes a Stones fan!!

the beatles were a pop band...they never had roots in the blues as the stones did... can you imagine the beatles recording love in vain or prodigal son or mannish boy? not in a million years... and the stones would never have recorded crap like mr. moonlight or a taste of honey or till there was you...

Well it is just my opinon but for me the Beatles and the Stones are the two greatest pop /rocks bands ever. Not just because of the music (which is always a matter of taste) but because of their extraordinary storys and their charisma.

I would hope that between the two bands members there was a mutual respect behind any rampant egos but I suppose it doesn't really matter.

I don't suppose the Stones would have recorded a 'taste of honey' etc but then again are 'Congratulations', 'The Singer And Not The Song', and 'My Girl' blues based? (Probably are for all I know!)
