Argentina deserve it. While travelling to Milan, we met french compatriots who
attended the 2 concerts this year in BA. They said they were " Fabulous ".

I should hope so. Two paying shows and a Rio free-for-all for the entire continent was a pretty shitty return for a part of the world that the Stones claim to love so much

I know they were brilliant. I have two of them on DVD. You miss the point though.

Three concerts in 2 cities in one week in a continent the size of South America is a poor amount.

Especially when they skipped that part of the world entirely on Licks.

Yes, Argentina deserve it more than any other country!!

If the concert (or concerts?) will take place, i'll try to be there. I have just one "problem": the Stones always play in River Plate's stadium but i love Boca Juniors!

BTW, in MIlan i met some fans from Argentina, in front of "Principe Di Savoia" hotel. Tuesday,11 July, at 2. We talked for a few minutes about the Stones (of course), about the madness of the audiences in Burenos Aires, about the World Cup. Anyone from these guys in this site???

Fantastic news, but with 141,000 tickets sold for 2 shows and ABB still on the top 100 of the national chart (currently at #77 after 10 months) is not surprising.

Why wouldn't they go back to Brazil for a paid show? Security?

"...With 141,000 tickets sold for 2 shows..."

Georgelicks, you have to correct BV! He writes 55,000 + 55,000 on IORR pages. I suppose that's because in 1998 we had 272,000 tickets sold for 5 shows which means 54,400 for each. What happened this time? More people FOS?

Much more people this time and only 2 shows, the stage was smaller and the field was oversold. You can see it on the DVD, it was a sea of people. The b-stage during the second night was a chaos. The stadium capacity for soccer games is 66,000 and 56,000 for shows, they sold 14.000 additional tickets for each night.

i think no place deserves a stones show more... i hope it happens but am skeptical... if they played there it would not be because of money and we know the stones are all about money (just the way it is..)..

lets think back to 2001-2002 tour when they announced it and at press conference said "argentina, the only way we could play there would be as a charity case"... nice words keith to your best fans! of course keith was right..the bottom had fallen out of the economy....still,i was living there at the time, and it was dissapointing mainly because the fans there are so hard core...but then again keith is never been known for diplomacy! smiling smiley

i hope the stones play buenos aires again..it would really be great if they did..i just can't see it because from an economic standpoint, as has been pointed out by their argentine promoter grinbank "they make more money from t-shirt sales in a US show!"...

then again they played there earlier this year so maybe its not all about the money..and as argentina recovers they will sell more records there and make more money... unlike the US people down there buy a bigger bang and listen to it and enjoy it... no more passionate fans than argentines exist..with all their faults no one can acuse them of lacking passion....

"...You can see it on the DVD, it was a sea of people."

I see it, Georgelicks. But i haven't seen DVD's from 1998, to draw comparisons.

It was not just a sea of people. It was rough sea!

I had to get out of that madness, I almost got squashed. Had to take some small girl who was dying, it was horrible but I made it alive and would do it 100 times again =)
I enjoyed the finale of the show from the back, to much time getting squashed was enough.
