A great "Stoned" night out in London on 18th August
Posted by: paulywaul ()

In London for the Twickers shows on the 20th and 22nd August ? Turning up a couple of days early ? In that case, you really can't afford to be ANYWHERE ELSE in London town other than the 100 Club on Oxford Street on the night of Friday 18th. Why ? To catch a great Stones tribute band, the "Rollin' Stoned". Might I suggest that to get in the mood for the "real thang" and perhaps to rendezvous with other like-minded souls and IORR subscribers, this would be a great place to hook up.

A friend and I have just got our tickets; they're only £12.50. A cheap night out. If you're going to be in town and intending to go, then once you've got your ticket(s), why not post on here. It'd be kind of cool to know who from IORR is gonna in attendance; might be a chance to finally put a face to that name you've been seeing on the board for all this time ?

Here's a link to the Rollin' Stoned & their 100 Club gig on 18th August. see ya there.

Yeah this band are superb, the best tribute I've ever seen, stones or otherwise.

Have played many times at my local, I also saw them at the 100 club about 5 years ago when they did a special show for Brian Jones, it was July.

18th August - 25th August is gonna be one hell of a week for many of us. I am at twickers #2 so far and glasgow, im gonna get hold of some good seats for twickers #1 some how.

Something im wondering, is that, even though there have been no club shows on this tour, they still could do their traditional london suprise show like with voodoo lounge and bridges to babylon. And the most probable date for this is Friday 18th...

We can but live in hope...

i saw them at a beer festival (of all places) last year, and they were bloody great.
and no.... they do play a varied set and not just the warhorses, and
no- you won't get screwed by Michael Cohl or Ticketmaster!

what more do you want for £12.50?

they're website's not bad either!- (checkout their current repotoire songlist)

My friend Beast and I have seen these guys lots of times to date, they are a class act, always on form, thoroughly entertaining, delightfully tongue in cheek, so if you're not doing anything else on Friday 18th August .......... you could do infinitely worse than get down the 100 Club. We're gonna be there, so see yas there Mr jimmy, Adrian-L and no doubt countless other ladies and gents of possibly no great wealth - but EXCELLENT taste !

To Adrian-L & Mr Jimmy

Must tell you this. Standing FOS in the Half Moon Putney on one of the innumerable occasions that I've seen the Rollin' Stoned there, I was a bit piddled and unquestionably over-excited, and started shouting out song titles that I wanted them to play. I didn't notice that "Mick Jaguar" (as our MJ impersonating hero is called) had picked up a flute as they were preparing to do their next tune, and I kept on yelling "Rambler, Rambler, Rambler", at which point he gave me a filthy look, waved the flute somewhat disapprovingly at me and said ........ "how many versions of the Midnight Rambler have YOU heard played on a f***ing flute"

Those boys are a laugh a minute, can't WAIT to be FOS again at the 100 Club on 18th Aug.

Ha ha ha that is funny paulywaul.

The last time I saw them 'down the moon', was boat race day, and they opened with rocks off! Amazing! After the show I was wandering around in the venue, and I went up to 'Mick', (who is actually bald) and told him how great the show was and that it was so good that they opened with rocks off, and he was obviously still on a high, and he's like "YEAH ! da-da da-da daa daa da-daa!! and he starts singing the guitar intro and then a bit of the chorus! He is indeed a funny guy.

Also a complete piss take how they always have the verve's 'bittersweet symphony" as their intro music.

Not me for sure, I can't text, jump up & down, and smoke one of Brian "angel wings" Jones' mega spliffs all at the same time. Two out of three maybe, but all three ......... ??

If you think I'm kidding about the mega spliff, I'm not. Last time I saw them (won't say where), this supiciously large spliff like object was handed down to the audience by the man, and .............................. well it wasn't fake shall we say ?

These guys are fab. I can't wait for this show. Never know, a "real" Rolling Stone might drop by. They've been known to drop into the 100 Club before, their pics are up on the wall. 1986 I think it was.

a FOS position it most certainly is ,then!

yeah- photos on the sweat-dripping walls, from the Stu rememberance gig, back in '86.
one of those Holy Grail bootlegs- that doesn't exist...am i imagining it, or is there a photo on the walls, of Townsend jamming with the band, that particular night?

Probably the nearest thing, we're going to get, to a Stones club show, anyway!

Well these guys might likely change your mind, but the only way you're gonna find out is to be there ...............

nothing personal pauly but

i would never ever go to see a stones cover/tribute band in my whole live.

maybe go to a pub where stones music is, at least there you get the original music.

sorry but maybe see you at twickers.
