Obviously this isnt the greatest quality recording, but it is great to watch, and I think it captures the atmosphere of a stones stadium show very well. There is some serious reverb (echo) going on around the place!

I've just made another video with the Youtube link posted by Bockwuchsd.
I've made a mix with the original audience sound and the soundboard from RS.com.

Here's the link :

Thanks to Roberto Giammanco who posted the Youtube video first.
I don't wanna steal his job. This is just an improvment of the really good job he did.

very touching rendition, I must say. MJ is the consumate pro - not even a glance at a monitor. KR seems quite rusty, understandably, I guess. I love the arm gesture interaction between the two....the top musical kukos goes to Chuckie, though - some very elegant playing.

What do the Italian Iorr-members think? I mean, you guys understand what he sings and how Jagger pronounces the lyrics. Any good?

not italian, but it is odd when he cuts 'con le mie la--crime cosi'. However, I love the rendition! I think when Keith starts laughing, Mick is on edge of bursting as well, which makes him sing slightly off tune. Very funny!

also available at 'Hot Stuff' - if you 'can't get enough,' check it out! after initally laughing at jagger's italian, i quite enjoyed it . . . (though the piano is too prominent in the mix IMCO)

An italian paper says that is was sweet but you couldn't tell what he was singing sometimes.
But this was my highlight of the evening

It WAS superb! And I am not speaking of the performance (which was absolutely good).
Who ever could have imagined that MJ could do something like this, for sure he didn't have to. Just figure big-macho-jagger, the stones war machine, the super professional, coming out and singing in Italian! This enters my top 10 all time fav stones moments. You should have seen their faces while playing this; they all tried hard not to cross eyesight: if they did the whole thing would have collapsed in a big laugh! Keith grin was unpayable. I think this one of the most "human" stones moments I've seen. It shows that they still can have lots on fun on stage.

The interesting side of it is that in the early 60 it was very popular for Italian beat-groups to sing in a mock "italian-with-a-strong-english-accent", therefore Jaggers' redention was as perfect as it could have been!

If mick could speak a perfect Italian, he would have sang it the same way, because that is how it should have been done.

Collè mie lacccrimeii sul viiiii iii soo ... unbeatable!!!

Agree with Gazza and Liddas. It was quite superb! And with a very sensitive intro...

I speak no italian but frm the first time I found this song on a boot until now, i have never heard what the literal translation of Con Le Mie lacrime really is.
It is rare you can translate a song and keep the meaning AND meter the same.

from what litle i can guess from Latin and Spanish wouldn't con=with, mie=me/my and Lacrime=tears. If so it surely doesnt translate to As tears Go By.

Can anyone shed some (Shine a) light on this??

j
Almost a faithfull translation

Il sole sta per tramontar / The sun is about to go down
Dei bimbi corrono a giocar / children are running to play
Visi che sorridono / smiling faces
Ed io son qui / and I stand here
Con le mie lacrime cosi / with my tears

Con la ricchezza io potrei / with richness I could
Comprare quello che vorrei / buy what I want
Ma la gioia semplice / but simple joy
Percio' son qui / that is why I am here
Con le mie lacrime cosi / with my tears

Il sole sta per tramontar / The sun is about to go down
Un'altro giorno se ne va / another day goes by
Tutti si divertono / everybody's having fun
Ed io son qui / and I am here
Con le mie lacrime cosi / with my tears

Sorry for the mistakes

Just wanna make a statement; that translatin' lyrics or poetry is
not the same as translating instructions for vacum cleaners
or sitcoms for that matter.
The translator has an artistic freedom.
Personally I always lay emphasis on the sounds more than contents.

And, yeah, thank ya Liddas!!!
MY fav Italian poster!! (Didnt see yer translation,
cause I was in a rush commenting on ½Nanker.)
Lovely tune with presumably great translation.
I wish I might be their royal Swedish translator
so that I could make the new Swedish version "Ett vattenfall"
(or whatever).

I seem to be the only one who don't appreciate neither the Italian live version nor the English live rendition of As Tears Go By.
Mick's singing is incredibly forced and really dreadful actually. I like the original version of this tune, though.
