apparently the voting for this award, was carried out by Journalists, at the HT break of the final- long before Zidane's red card

They (and then you have to mention some others) have been unsportsmanlike
only on the field. Italy opened a new dimension outside the field.

But I don't want to complain anymore as it is needless as the FIFA is not far away from that behaviour.

Australia was gifted by pleying 11/10 for the entire 2half of the game for a red card to Materazzi that only unsportsmen like you can say it was deserved
If the penalty was for Australia and the referee did not call it, you would have written the same things now

>De Rossi had to be suspended for half
> a year for his foul against USA.

Maybe you got a bit hysterical here. 4 games for that idiot and violent fault were both well deserved and fair. Last night i saw a pretty elbow in the face of an italian player and a yellow card given. Last night I saw a penalty that I suggest you watch again and then come here to tell me that materazzi actually hit malouda.

The Italiens (tv,

You are proven wrong. Maybe you read too much Bild these days. Bild, you know? that great racist and chauvinist magazine. Just because of the scandal here in Italy, the leaders of the Federation were very cautious to intervene. FIFA made it all and the images were pure arian-deutschland-uber-alles images.
And oh! by the way, De Rossi is a criminal that deserve life punishment for a violent play, while Frings is a victim of the system, of an evil trick... you sound so "italian"!

You must be nuts. Get informed before posting. The scandal here in Italy is not about players. It is about club managers and referees. Club managers who decided what referee should direct what match. Nothing to do with players.

I congratulate with you for your well deserved third place instead.

Yes, right. Again there is no "frauding players" - maybe it is Bild that say so? - and it was the statement of one single minister that was immediately covered by a chorus of "NO" so that he was obliged to eat back his words.

All things that, probably, Bild does not publish and you are not interested in, i guess.

And, anyway, i dont play mandolin, i am not a mafia man, but i do eat pizza

take care

Yeah, you're right. I would have been surprised if Zidane hadn't won. Last ode to a great player. Still strange after yesterday's card...

Yeh, even players of our National Team that play for Juventus and Milan have said that the fact that they won the cup should not let this huge scandal to be forgotten , those who have to pay must pay, even if it means serie C for them.

Will Zidane now be remembered for that one play?

Has Italy erased the pain of Baggio's penalty in 94?

Good for Italy. Now, those who criticize the red card gesture of Zidane, should be more moderate in the sense of waiting why he did that. Probably due to a xenophob, racist word from a non-angel italian player. I think this guy is not respected in his own country. Maybe he will be thrown to jail next week or the week after along with some other compatriots. That does not excuse what Zidane did. He got what he deserved and probably made France lose the cup. Italy won. Did they play better than France or Germany !!!!

Re: Italy wins!!!

I think Zidane deserved the award anyway.
I think players say bad words all the time (what if Materazzi's words were already an answer to some bad ones from Zidane)
Just these are the rules: you don't hit another player's chest with your head because of bad words.
But I guess if italians do things like that they're just criminals period.
Like Frings. He was the victim, wasn't he?

About the "good play" issue
Did France play better than Portugal in the semifinal?
Did Brazil play better than Ghana in the 8th of final?
Did England play better than Equador in the 8th of final?
Did Portugal play better than England in the 4th of final?
So please...

maumau, we are not so far away from each other. your examples are o.k., I agree. And I already admitted that Germany many many years played really ugly football (seen from technical and offense-playing point of view), but they made their way thru at least to the quarter finals and more. I think it is pretty similar with the italiens this time. In my opinion, they did only one good / very good game (they were a little better than germany, yeap - Germans tired cause of extra time against argentina) and as the germans in 2002 they had good luck getting finals with "easy" teams like australia and ukraine.

Well, your team has done it and once more congratulations ! I am not a bad looser, I am an objective and great football fan.

that is exactly what I meant: that is football, in one single match the weaker team can prevail.

Italy was weaker than France last night

but gave it all, did not lose the head, scored after the early penalty (may I dare say "dubious"), hit the crossbar, went under in the second half, resisted, was lucky, had Buffon great against zidane and henry, shot Perfect Penalties.
Is this enough for you to consider that we did not steal the cup?
Aren't Cannavaro and Pirlo two of the best players of the whole tournament?
I think so

Re: Italy wins!!!

I never said that you stole the cup.
But you are trying to say that Italy played a great football during the tournament which is not true.
You had a great deal of luck !
if you had won like France did against Brazil in 98, then, I would've made myself very small.
and I still want to know what materazzi said to zidane to make him react so bad

ok natural born stonesfan, infact i dont want to fight a war here alone winking smiley
I understand, everyone does. Even Gattuso last night said it straight: "Sometimes we're not beautiful to see but we're tough".
What I don't understand is stereotype and prejudice, that's all.

To tell how I lived the game yesterday. When Zidane was shown the red card and we saw what he had done I screamed: "Oh no! Why did you do that?" He was frightening for us to have him in the game but is also so great to see him play and I do wanted him in until the end. I was not happy but disappointed and still i thought he "objectively" deserve that.

All I want to say is that these feelings and sportsmanship in general are more common here than sterotypes on Italians suggest.

winking smiley

BTW I WOULD LIKE TO INFORM YOU ALL THAT NO ITALIAN PLAYER IS GOING TO JAIL FOR WHAT IS GOING ON RIGHT NOW IN THE ITALIAN FOOTBALL FEDERATION.
Many team owners, team managers, referees and the former league commissioner will be banned from football for many years, Juventus, Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina are quite likely to be demoted to Serie B or Serie C, but no players are involved in any way in the scandal.
I guess they deserve a great applause for winning a cup in such a hard time for them.
Of course this is people that won't lose their job because of this, still it must be hard finding out all you did in the last few years has been destroyed by some worthless managers.

Yeah, France was easily the better team yesterday in my humble opinion. But, really that's besides the point. It's how many goals you score, not how well you play when football is concerned. I was hoping that France would have prevailed, but party crasher Zidane's horrible and totally inexcusable stunt screwed up the whole situation. I feel so sorry for the French team that was let down by Zidane. Zidane, one of the best players ever, surely deserved a better ending than this, but he's only got himself to blame. Damn you Zizou! I'm really disappointed at your unprofessional manners.

Congratulations to Italy!!!!!!

where I said that? quote please

I said this was not a tournament marked by great tecnique players (Riquelme, Ronaldinho, Deco, Totti, Ballack). In this context the toughest team prevailed and, IMHO, rightly so.
The only great number 10 was Zidane. He could have scored last night against cannavaro and buffon and i would have said: "You won and rightly so"
He did not

Do you want also to check if De Rossi was told bad words or done tricky faults before he lose his head against USA? I dont. It never occured to me to try to find alibis for such an idiot and violent fault.

Still I admire zidane as a player and find it ridicolous that a moment of madness should delete all the good football he played in this tournament.
it is football
and italy last night won the world cup of this sport

France was given 6 penalties yesterday and they were not enough for them to win the game, that's it.

Zidane deserved a red HAD a referee seen him, but that was not the case. What happened, is the assistant clearly used the images from TV Cameras, to establish Zidane's gesture, and only then did the first referee give the card. Unlike in other sports, it is not allowed for Soccer referees to uses TV images to make or back their descision... Yet that's what happened in this case. According to the rules, Zidane shouldn't have got a red card.

My two cents.

You're totally blind, you don't want to see anything but the victory which I can understand on a human point of view.

But we could also talk about the first 10 minutes and the violent way Italian players started the game.

That's another shame too !
