Hey T&A, yes I have it's definitely A Love Supreme, it's a masterpiece, and when you look at the way it was recorded - in one session, I love it! Giant Steps is also one of my favourite.

a love supreme is amazing. from his more straight-head bop stuff - i would probably pick either soultrane, blue train or black pearls....hell, he's got over 100 studio albums - and then there's the amazing amount of live stuff...bootlegs, included - can't get enough of him....

I totally agree with you!!!Another thing is that played and recorded albums with other jazz legends like Davis, Gillespie, Monk, Ellington, Shorter, Cannonball Adderley...It's almost impossible to track his entire discography.

coltrane was one of those rarest of rare birds, maybe similar to hendrix in this respect: a revolutionary musician who must have been aware of his own lasting importance to the world of music because he was almost always in "record mode" - amazing how much recording both of these cats did in the short of amount of time they were respectively on the planet. we are lucky they recognized this in themselves.

...and there are lot's of still unreleased tapes. He was trully a legend!
