Dance little sister

Reading JumpingKentFlash`s post "You`ll hate me for this post", one song is mentioned several times: DANCE LITTLE SISTER!" What a great, raw, pure, classic tune! Have a few drinks and listen to it. You will never whine and moan again! What if the Stones played it live in Europe this summer? Was it ever played live, by the way? Play it, please play it!

love it. it was played on the '75 tour and at the El Mocambo '77 show.

yeah, they barely played it in '75. Came and went with "Luxury". DLS always reminds me so much of "Jiving Sister Fanny". very similar, but both so f*cking great! Taylor rules on them.

Only once in 75 I think, at the first Baton Rouge show.

That's a great one, very overlooked. If they're going to do some obscure stuff live (and I hope they will) that would be a great choice.

Blondie and Bernard played Dance Little Sister at Stones Place in Toronto a while ago.

Great rockin song, would be surprised to ever hear it live again.

Isn't it funny how we can consider popular songs like this, or even songs on their greatest hits albums like As Tears Go By as a rarities. There are about 30 others as well..

They actually played the El Mocambo version on the norwegian national station (P3) a few weeks ago, and it smoked! It was a Stones tribute program. Don't know were they got it from though, but the solo Wood played shure was great...

-Can't be, Wood's got the same sound on his guitar as on the club side of Love You Live.

It's a very typical Ronnie solo on El Mocambo version.
Dance little Sister is as cool as a song can be.
One poster wrote under a "best guitar sound"-thread that Keith guitar on Dance Little Sister, studio version, had the most rocking sound a guitar can have...(or was it me who wrote it?), anyway, that's really true.

DLS is an excellent example of a song that should satisfy everyone. rarity, but instantly recognizeable by anyone deserving of being there. and failing that, it's a great tune that should satisfy even those undeserving of being there.

having said that - they'll never do it.

so, we whine.....

The thing is: the studio version sounds like a live version! Isn`t that the trick about DLS? And please play it!

Awesome tune! Very rockin'. Used to listen to this one all the time after I bought IORR on cassette. Cassettes suck by the way, don't buy them unless you want volume dips galore!

That's true Tod, and I can't even believe they took it away from the setlists after Kansas City 75 either!
Rolling Stones can't play their own albums at all ! They only remember the songs they have done the last 5 years....the last tour.
Then again, good artists (painters & writers too) don't look back,
but as they don't have a Bill Wyman any more...with a heavy diary and good memory, they SHOULD have a few drinks and listen to their back catalogue once a week at least.

who played guitar on this song, it does not sound like mick taylor, it sounds more like ron wood.

Check out the long studio version of Dance Little Sister (5:06) It has an extra break and sounds better than the official released mix!

It's on the boot "Acetates" from Midnight Beat
