I believe the rumour about Sweden you have heard, is not true. To book a stadium in Sweden is a big job, we would have heard about it, if they were to play there.
You'll have to wait untill next year, unfortunately.

Ok but I really hope not

Next year, next summer. My guess ( though not particularly trustworthy
at this point) is two gigs, as they seem to play double show-cities.
Ullevi is easily sold out two nights.

Re: Sweden

Ullevi was sold out 56 000 tickets in 1.5 hour this year.

Thus in 2-3 hours or faster they sell out two Ullevis.
Maybe we should encourage them to do three gigs
(one in a cluc or a threatre...............;O) )...
Did visit Götebirg thus weekend, and man what a place...
City of good geezers is The Place to be.
Sorry, Ville & all the others... Got stuck in the Balder
roller-coaster all day. Eleven hours at the amusement park...
Football (Soccer) World Championship added to that...

Hi everybody!

I´m an occasional contributer to this great forum, as many others here I also happen to live in Sweden. However I passed by tickets to Gothenburg this time (luckily), and among the reasons were that I didn´t find it so attractive to see the Stones in this large stadium (no FOS tickets) and I was also angry that again are the Stones giving priority to Gothenburg instead of three times larger Stockholm. I read here that somebody from Atlanta was disappointed that the Stones only gave one concert in his city this time. Stockholm didn´t have one visit from the Stones between 1970 and 1995! (Even if we got a triple in 2002 and that was so great!)

But the main reason for not going to Gothenburg was the collision with Sweden Rock Festival in Soelvesborg, I went there and that was really great! The Stones are the Stones, but to see some twenty bands during 12 hours in one day for less money than the Stones for two hours is actually more bangs for the bucks even if you are a Stones fan. And now there was no Stones concert. I will see them later on in Amsterdam, even if that´s another story since my tickets were for the second concert and I had to run and get worse tickets for the then only concert.

But the question is, there seems to be a lot of Swedish and Danish fans here, but I haven´t seen anybody mentioning the collision between the Sweden Rock Festival and the now cancelled Stones concert. For me it was after all an easy choice, since it doesn´t cost me more to see them in another European city. Is rock music just the Rolling Stones or?

Ha ha, Sweden Rock festival is not the place to be for real Stones-fans. Especially not on a day they are supposed to play Ullevi. An ex colleague of mine, from Norway, claims she's a hard core Stones fan. Still, she went to the Sweden rock festival. And now she wants me to help her get tickets for another Stones show. Message back is: I only assist TRUE fans. Just go see some old has beens and some Swedish bands. Enjoy and have fun. I'm off to go on a Stones-tour of Europe. There!

Well, you missed the private showing for the Stonesvikings and friends of Gered Mankowitz work, with the man himself as our guide. A table was also set with champagne, beer and wine courtesy of the promotor. The Stonesvikings in true style finished it off, no prisoners taken. Gered is a supernice man, and a great storyteller, his pictures are out of this world. Afterwards he signed all our stuff that we brought. Later in the evening he showed up at the gig of Swedens best Stonescoverband. This saturday was extremely fun. If you have a chance to see one of his exhibitions, don´t hesitate.

Well Mago:
3 gigs in 2003 (get your facts right!) did not satisfy you? smiling smiley
You seem to advocate a Stockholm-Gothenburg pissing contest when it comes to the Stones.....hope you had a good time at the Sweden Rock festival, maybe you should lobby for them to move to Stockholm??
I am surprised that you could leave the safety of the "three times larger Stockholm" and travel to the middle of nowhere in the countryside to see the festival. I hope you wore protection smiling smiley

The Stones are probably doing their best to satisfy different regions in different countries, look at Norway, where they will also play the second biggest city. And Horsens, how far down on the list of Denmarks biggest citys would that be? And this time it´s Gothenburgs turn, in all fairness.

Cheers from the frontside of Sweden,
Gothenburg.

Hi Vilhelm

Well I think it´s a fact that we from Stocholm are not too keen to travel to the industrial city of Gothenburg, even if most of us love travelling, but more so to the north of Sweden (Norrland) with the mountains as well as the lovely south where the organizers have made a fantastic job to build up the Sweden Rock Festival to what it is today. But my choice was not depending on a dislike for Gothenburg (which I actually don´t) it was just that Sweden Rock was a bigger bang for the bucks. And then it´s also worth a trip of some 350 miles (more than to Gothenburg).

I´m into Stones because I love music and particularly rock music. The Stones has the best record list, but there are actually other bands. And the Stones are not in a very good shape as a band at the moment.

Well, Horsens is the 7th biggest city in Denmark, which is the same as being the the best opera singer in outer Mongolia...

I'm very surprised the "Rock festival is as good as Stones" statement didn't invite more flames than this... smiling smiley

For an encore, mago will compare flying an airplane to throwing paper planes (the latter is cheaper and safer, plus you can do it all day without someone threatening to blast you down from the sky).
